Anyone heard of Susumu brand boombox?

It was cheap, it was crap! but it was my first portable stereo in the late 80s. It had a dual casstte deck and high speed dubbing for recording and at around £30 that was all that mattered when I was 13!! anyway, can anyone else remember this budget brand? did I mispell it? or is my memory playing tricks?

never heard of susumu smeats, it might have another brand name on the same box,a lot of the cheaper brands sold the same boxes.

also if it was made early enough it could still have decent build quality,i have boxes made by brands unheard of outside of collecting circles that are better than some well known boxes of similar size etc.

Nope never heard of it

I'll bet there must have been thousands of companies with more than one brand name!

Can't remember much except it was about 1988, colour was black,  it was long but not tall like a lot of late 80s boxes, as for build quaulity it was light but not flimsy but it had soft eject that was useless from day 1 (deck 2 would take about 5 minutes to open without a bit of help).Does anyone remember Boots the chemist own brand boomboxes? I remember looking at some of them the day I bought my first box!

Boots ones I remember

I seem to think they did smaller quite groovy looking ones...a bit of style over substance

image[4)It only took 3 years but I found someone else that had heard of Susumu brand Boomboxes.  A new guy at work was sat next to me and we were talking about interests and hobbies and I told him about collecting boomboxes! He is about the same age as me and said he still owned the box he had from when he was 13! I asked what model it was (in case it was a grail) and imagine my surprise when he said  Susumu! he was also surprised that I had heard of this brand and agreed to send me some pics.

It's not the same one as I had (think mine was an older model similar in shape but no digital display) but finding anything about this brand is rare, try searching for Susumu boomboxes on google and you find bugger all (apart from my posts)

here is the only one I've seen in about 25 years!image[1)image[2)image[3)image
