Hey guys whats the gf 555 like?

the 555 is built like a tank, very ugly in my opinion, goes very loud with good highs but lacks bass, deffinetly not on many peoples want list.

i am speaking from experience as iv'e owned one, i can say it does have some great features like most boxes from the era but it just lacks looks.

just my humble opinion, but if you like the look it's entirely your choice.

well made but they sound poor like most cheap sharps get a 9494 or a 9000  moonpaste far better .

il'e go with the 9494 or even a 575 but not a 9000, for the size they sound pretty crap

unless ya change the woofs. that said the 9000 looks the part

if you've got the readies just grab a 9696 and have done with it

This will undoubtedly be controversial but I have a 555 and a 8585. I think the 8585 sounds better and has more bass. Size is not important when both machines use similar sized speakers. The 555 just has loads of cabinet to rattle. The 8585 is smaller, tighter and much more satisfying. Not expensive either. 9494 is better, 9595 and 9696 good too but more expensive.

cool thanks for the advice guys. I have gone with the 555 but it was super cheap. Will check it out and if no good may go with a 9494 or 9090. Is the 9494 much better than the 9696? Also one more question. The bang and olufsen boom boxes, does anyone have any advice on them. Cheers 

I think the general opinion would be that the 9696 is better than the 9494, they're certainly rarer and more expensive...I have a 9494 and I love it but I'd rather have a 9696   The 9090 is smaller and not in the same league at all, nice box tho for a smaller one.

No idea about Bang and Olufsen ones tho...obviously the brand is known for high quality but thats as much as I know about them.

Don't think thats controversial...I've got Sharps bigger than the 525 (I don't have a 555) that sound better, and I've got Sharps smaller than the 525 that sound better...size isn't everything you know as I'm sure many, other than myself, have been told before

If you want a wasp that runs on 10 d cells buy a 555 and agree with Lav had plenty gf 9000 still have 2 and they sound crap...untill you change the speakers

well i guess i'm pretty much in the same boat as you mate, no booze for weeks but i could defo knock a good few back 

I got one cheap locally, Its Loud(ish),not great sound but I love it because its big heavy and Ugly! ugly can be cool.
