Isn't it just very dirty from heavy nicotine stain? Check the color difference between the batt compartment and the back side..... My crown looked gold, but after cleaning it was silver....

Dunno but I believe it might be LLopez's unit.

It's a genuine gold Conion, look at the black alarm button surround and the tuner dial

That's Good Because I own it now. Didn't know when I bought it that it was a rare model. Shipped out today. Yes this is LLopez's stereo. Seems like a nice guy. Sent me Videos and all. Looks like it wasn't sold for 2,000 or the buyer backed out and didn't pay. I picked it up for half that plus shipping.

At first my wife told me I was crazy and she about convinced me :-) but now I don't feel so bad. I know a few of you are shaking your heads but dang it...been waiting for 10 years and I'm not getting any younger, the prices aren't getting any cheaper and the stereos are getting harder to find operational (Especially the Gold version from what I've read). When I get too old to hear it I will sell it for my retirement fund..haha

It seems to work nicely in his videos. No matter how rare I'm using it. It will be outside on a sunny day when washing my car etc. No point to have it if you don't enjoy it. Lets just hope they take care of it in transit (fingers crossed)

I'm glad you got it Transistorized. You only live once !

As far as selling it when you retire, be careful. The next gen of portable fans can't lift anthing heavier than Beats headphones They won't understand why a Conion was even made ,let alone a gold one

Don't know about this retire plan, it already dropped $1000 in one year. But it's cool to finally get the thing you wanted for so long! Congrats with it! Now all the effort goes in keeping it alive for as long as possible. Rest rust, so using it is the best way!

Haha. So true. I hope to keep it alive for as long as possible but if it does eventually poop out...I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I enjoyed it as much as I possibly could. Ah who knows....just like this 3D printing, in the future it may be possible to create any part you want for an affordable price. The IC chips will be the impossible task of finding but resistors, diodes and capacitors will hopefully always be available.
