N00b with a Sony CFS-3000 Boombox

Hi, I'm new the forum.  I've got a few old compact stereo systems.  But, today at the thrift store I picked up my first vintage boombox.  It's a Sony CFS-3000 AM/FM Radio & Cassette Player/Recorder with an equalizer and detachable speakers.  It looks to have about 14 Watts of Power Output.  The radio sounds pretty good and is easy to tune.  I tested the cassette deck in the thrift shop and it worked.  But, now that it's home, the cassette deck has given up the ghost.  The spindles aren't turning.  I'm suspecting that it may be a broken, stretched, or slipping drive belt.

Any tips on how to get into this hobby, get parts, and make the required repairs?

Welcome to the forum!

Just open it up and fit new belts. You can get a selection of belts off eBay and off you go

Some are dead easy to do, some are a nightmare, not sure of this Sony but just go for it.

Since my total investment is $11, I really can't go wrong! Thanks!
