I'm new to this boombox thing, so i have a lot to learn.

So the story goes like this, On my 15th birthday, my parents got me a boombox, a Sanyo 9975 or something like that, and a pair of Sennheiser HD400 headphones, so that i didn't bother them when listening at home.

Now, this 20 year old guy, who's parents owned a convenience store where he worked to make a little money, had bought a JVC RC-M70, and i just thought it was the coolest, best looking radio i'd ever seen, and so i promised myself that i'd get one, one day.

Well, fast forward about 30 years, i finally honored that promise, a few days ago, while looking through the adds on a local website, i found an RC-M70, it's complete and everything works, beeing a vinyl record fan, i even tested the phono preamp, just in case i'd want to use one of my turntables with it. The only thing that i don't like about it, are the separate controls for the left and right channels, i find them a pain to match both sides evenly, also, i find that the volume is very sensitive, especially with my cd player, it's almost to the point that just looking at the volume controls, is enough for it to rise, oh well!, nothing's perfect i guess.

It's in good overall condition, no cracks, or anything, i'd rate it as a solid 8.5/10, i paid $225 for it, i don't think i've overpayed, given it's popularity, and condition. I'm not too computer savvy, but i will try to post some pics in the days to come.

nice find 

i find using a equlizer for a cd player to my m90 helps control the power flow... the best thing i find is a cassette deck with input and out put controls the govern the out put flow from my cd player to my m90 it  helps a lot

Like i said i'm new to this, so i'm still amazed at the prices that some boomboxes are selling for on Flea Bay, i wonder how many people are the original owners of their boomboxes.

The M70 is a coveted box. Be proud!

Although they're are other nice looking boomboxes, i personnaly think that the RC-M70 is one of the best looking ones out there, now, about those pics, like i said i'm not to good with computer, so this might not work on the first try, but thrus me, il'l post them, even if it kills me.

I guess my computer skills are improving, i'll try to post a few more pics tomorrow. I have to say, i was very surprised to find a phono input on the RC-M70, i don't know if this was common or not, but being a vinyl fan, it's just icing on the cake.

Congrats!  The 70 is a great box!  I think i need to kick mine up this weekend!

It's my view that even if you own one box then the M70 is the one.

Ha, yes, perfect choice.  I only have 6 boxes in our house right now which are the ones I would struggle to be parted with, these are RC550, GF-777, TPR950, M70, GF9696 & PC5

I agree, the m70, is a top all rounder. I remember, when i first came to the site, i thought the m70, was the top of the range, till, rumour started going round, that, there was an m80, and, m90, though, nobody had one, or, had ever seen one. How times have changed eh? Still remember, someone posting, saying, he had a big radio in his office, on the desk. Someone asked him to post a pic, and, lo and behold, there it was, the m90. Everyone had to have one from that point, including me. I still remember AO joining. He was still in short trousers then.

I forgot to mention in my O.P, but my main language is French, so if i make grammar mistakes please don't hesitate to correct me. 

It's nice to know that the RC-M70 is so well regarded, because if you've read my O.P, you understand that it had to be an RC-M70, but to be honest, i'm more of a 70s hi-fi enthusiast, especially Marantz.

What's nice is that i can finally afford to buy all those nice things that i was salivating over when i was young, and that includes Mo's RC-M70 radio, since he was 5 years older than i was, we didn't hang out together, so he never knew how much i loved his Boombox.

I recently realised that our hobby is very ecological, in the sence that all these old sound systems components, and in this case radios are given a ''second life'' instead of rotting away in a land fill. I guess that the internet plays a big role in all of this, since people are able to find out if they're is a demand for what they have, of course the down side, is that they also know what it's worth, but hey, since they don't throw their stuff away,  we at least have the choice of buying it or not.
