Greatest Boombox Ever Made?

minty - 2013-07-20 11:19

I'm not a collector of Boomboxes, more a walkman fan. But today I was looking at some beautiful vintage Conion ones. Fabulous looking machines. I also seen some huge beasts with four massive speakers bolted on the front. The power from these must be savage. When I was a young lad I had a pretty powerful Sharp with back to back tape mechanism. 7.5 watts PMPO per channel. It was a pretty powerful machine.

So guys, what's the best Boombox ever made?

I don't think there is a best one  it's all personal taste... Also depends on the kind of music you want to listen I think... that's why we want so many of them I guess...

Edit, sorry I'm to serious lol...

Okay, I'm very happy with my Hitachi TRK-9150. it's the box I use the most because it has everything I want. it's the best!

That sharp I had was 7.5 watts RMS per channel, not PMPO. 60 watts PMPO total.

Mine is my National RX7200

walking around with a 777 in the early eighties must of been a buzz even now people say wow on clocking one

mitchelljames - 2013-07-21 08:53

IMHO

Most Flashy - Dynasty Discolite

Biggest - Elta MasterBlaster

Best Sounding - M90

Loudest - Conion C100

Best Allrounder - M70

Rarest - Bombeat 40

Most Iconic - Conion C100

The big National Panasonics should probably be in there somwhere, also something from the Sharp 777 family

Personal Favs - Conion C100, Lasonic 931, Rising 20 20, Crown 950, Realistic Scr8, Bombeat 16, Sharp GF9000, i could go on all night.

AND, thats just 1 piecers lol.

No right or wrong, just a matter of taste
