Boombox Lottery Auction

mitchelljames - 2013-08-23 11:13

Ive seen this done on a bmx forum.

How it works.

To keep it simple say ive got a box i want to sell for £49 inc shipping.

Members buy a lottery number from me for £1 each paid by paypal.

Once all the numbers are sold, the next lottery draw that takes place, the bonus ball is the winning number. The draw is on telly so there is no cheating.

I get sell my box and the winning member gets a box for a quid, shipped.

Its basicly a raffle.

If you had an M90 you valued for aurguements at £500 you would sell the bonus balls for a tenner each.

Could it work here, i would deffo risk a quid or two on a raffle for a box.

Just something to chat about

Maybe do a vote via a pole thingy in this thread to gauge interest. Just think, could be a regular feature

good idea....members have suggested this before including myself but trouble is there are what 10 20 posters here so i doubt it would work

Hey Reno, that said there are many hundreds of members...maybe a mailshot to everyone's registered email add would drum up interest...

what about opening the auction to visitors

The leg work would be done by the seller in a for sale thread.

Agree the low active number of posters would be a problem.

i was going to do something like this with my grado rs1..the mods weren't interested

but its a great idea if there was enough interest

Hmm.....sounds good to me but can't see many members putting their treasures up on a lottery

northerner - 2013-08-23 13:25

I'm in for buying a ticket...not for doing any work tho lol

Think its a good idea. Seller sells for asking price, someone wins something for cheap, but the winner would have to pay shipping.

Sounds like a good idea. I would happily bid. How made up would you feel if you picked up a M90 for under £10-15 !!!

Can't see a problem myself but it is actually gambling.  However, despite this being for personal gains you/we don't need a license if proceeds don't exceed £20,000.
