Another return home from work, another realy large cardboard box.  Packaging better than last time but still not great. Anyway this is what was inside.

seb968 - 2013-10-23 14:44

Inside pics of Aiwa Stereo 600. The belts have turned to sticky goo and there are sighns of light powder corrosion; but nothing too bad.

love the way the way the whole front of the case is sprayed silver leaving a sliver of blue just for the speaker detail..that blue should be called "boombox blue"

northerner - 2013-10-23 14:55

Niiice!

Liking the inside of the Aiwa...that's a cool blue

seb968 - 2013-10-23 14:57

Yes, boombox blue, thats spot on! I have a mini JVC that has similar coloured switches.

bison - 2013-10-23 15:05

phillips also uses this blue,i also have also seen pioneer use it on vu`s on their separates

seb968 - 2013-10-23 15:14

Well spotted mate; yes I have a few. The best ones are the National Panasonic DR22 (RF2200) that you spotted and a Sony IC-F2001. In the 70's dad used the Panny a lot; in fact it is he who got me into radios and ultimately electronics. The DR22 is one of my most prised possesions, not least of all because it was Dad's. Itis a great portable radio. The ICF-2001 came from my mate Dave. It was pretty sophisticated for it's day. (late 80's I think) Love a bit of shortwave now and again.

Cool! The inside of my Aristona was sprayed red! Did not understand why they did it, but you just explained it!

michiel - 2013-10-23 23:11

And congrats with the 70. It doesn't look bad at all! Will be very nice when it's cleaned a bit. They all do

Cheers Driptip; I only the one, it is my first! This will need some work; there is damage to the top trim on the radio dial. Don't know how easy it would be to get a replacement part.

Thanks Michiel . It is filthy and the grills are a mess. But they can be re-painted. Damage to the top is err, more of an issue . It may have happened in transit but who knows. Could be worse though. Hope to get started on tit at the weekend.

Hi deech; yeah the Lizard is the gaurdian of the spare room!
Thanks; the M70 is a big project! Have to say that, though I remember these machines from the 80's i've forgotten how big they are, after 30 odd years of music playing devices being made smaller and smaller it seems huge. My other half even comented on how big it is, I can't say she has ever done that before!!
