Another boombox record cover

northerner - 2013-11-07 11:40

Found this at a charity shop on my lunch break today!...listening to it on my VZ2000...nice

shane - 2013-11-07 11:49

Judging by the unit on the cover pic it's come home...

good tracks on it judging by the artist list.

Looks like I need to go to the charity shop too! I'm getting a little bored by this one Madonna record I got  Nice cover and nice track list indeed!

nice find Si love all the eighties street sounds stuff, boombox fodder at the time

shane - 2013-11-07 12:21

Oh how the top picture of the two makes me feel so low, I should have been able to show off one of those but alas, not to be just yet

just have to console myself with tunes from the 9191 for now.

the VZ2500 offered is becoming more and more attractive.

the bottom pic is cheering though

seb968 - 2013-11-07 12:28

Great find Si!

northerner - 2013-11-07 12:32

Sorry Shane wasn't trying to rub it in mate...you'll land one of these monsters soon enough...they're not uncommon in the UK you just might have to rebelt one tho unless you blag Dave's 2500...I've seen it the flesh and its just as nice as the 2000 :-)

northerner - 2013-11-07 12:33

Can't go wrong for £1.95

true about them being common in the uk..Sharps are..anybody noticed all the gf9494s surfacing at the minute

shane - 2013-11-07 12:42

May go for Dave's after christmas as a late pressie to myself  Funds allowing (aka she who must be obeyed (SWMBO))

Just hope no one else blags it before I get the chance to raise the funds (sweet talk SWMBO).

yours does look nice.

shane - 2013-11-07 12:43

Apart from ebay where else do you see them?

deech - 2013-11-07 12:46

I love the pics !! oldskool all the way!

northerner - 2013-11-07 13:05

Not seen VZ's anywhere other than eBay I'm afraid...you just have to hope for a badly listed pickup only one to get a bargain.

Yeh seen a few 9494's pop up recently....a very handsome box...got mine in a trade with andyboombox for a Panny 5250 that cost me £18 so was a bit of a bargain lol

bison - 2013-11-07 13:37

you wont see a 9494 for months then about ten drop in a matter of weeks,

if only 9696s were as common

northerner - 2013-11-07 13:42

If only!...I'd love a 9696 definitely high on my list

nickfish - 2013-11-07 14:19

I landed one of those a few weeks ago. Chris has it at the mo for re-belting so he probably knows more about how it sounds than i do! It sounds like the other Sharp's but louder and a little warmer; they normally sound light in the midrange but the 9696 is better. Still nowhere near the tonal balance of an Aiwa or Panasonic though.

Looks fab.

Wow I remember that album cover!
Nice find

jt.techno - 2013-11-07 15:41

Good music taste - Morgan Khan released some great compilations 'back in the day' ... and you can now find his Street Sounds show on Solar Radio ... sorted :-)
