Reel Cassette, whats the score?

tster - 2013-12-05 14:18

I keep seeing cassettes like this in loads of pictures of boxes:

can someone please tell me what they are and why they are so expensive? They look very cool but I'm not sure what the purpose is.

Those are the cheapo Eagles...only C15's so useless but pretty...there's an eBay seller in the UK who sells them about £15 shipped for £10! I've had a set of them. He's got thousands of them!

There are much prettier rarer and much more expensive ones like Reel Clears...I've only got one in metallics green.

Really they're just desirable coz they look cool in a box

Lol "£15 shipped for £10"...that's a good deal! I meant £15 for 10

I have many "COMPUTER" type reel cassettes
probably made in the early 80's
but the tape is very low quality and will be replaced with something better.
found mine local for a song n dance price.

Oh before they had floppy drives they would put programs on cassettes.

I got like 20 of these and when they sound ok, you right they look very cool in the box!

Well I really want one just because they look so cool!

Where do you buy single ones? Is it just scouring ebay or is there a good site to get them from?

tster - 2013-12-06 11:31

Oh i found the Eagle single for £3.99 + post on ebay, or 10 for £20 but they are C15, Im guessing they are short length? Not that it matters its only for the looks lol.

Where do you get the colour ones you were holding Cholo?

tster - 2013-12-06 11:40

OO found some on ebay.com rather than ebay.uk

michiel - 2013-12-06 11:52

I only got one red Colori, it was a present from Walkgirl ... Together with a KitKat

tster - 2013-12-06 13:24

Woah a cassette and a kitkat, you got lucky on both counts

tardpie - 2013-12-06 18:58

The score is that they are "boombox jewelry." They look really good turning around through the door on your boombox's tape deck. It's simply an aesthetic issue.

martymcfly - 2013-12-06 21:37

The ones you really want go for a ludicris amount of money, teac or Hitachi or reel cleer cassette, they a just plain pretty inside the window of a Walkman Boombox or Cassette deck!  they usually fetch 60.00 to 120.00 USD and sometimes more.
