samovar - 2013-12-05 02:09

good to read that you finally got the money to buy her pay docs and send the m90 for spares to deliverance - hope you won't be on canned beans for Christmas though!

radio.raheem - 2013-12-05 02:15

The m90 is fully working...docs was sorted out streight away.....just deliverance to sort out which im doing today sal.....i make no secret i HATE HATE sending boomboxes it's just to complicated for me,,,,yea ok im spastic so be it haha

northerner - 2013-12-05 02:18

Never seen that one before...looks like some hefty cable being used for the speakers, looks like power cable to me...easy to switch if it is though.  Interesting looking machine...congrats.

I've bought from this ebay seller before

radio.raheem - 2013-12-05 02:29

Good morning si....the strange thing about this box...it uses batts but no handle

can you remember what you bought from this seller ehh...and congrats on your second gf9000

ao - 2013-12-05 02:56

You're a wealth of info RR, inclined to think it's later than 87 though.  Tell me, where are you getting your info from, i can't find anything on the web? How do you know it takes batteries?  it looks like a mini stereo from the 90's to me, and if so, I'm afraid I doubt if it was their top end model.  Interesting though.

radio.raheem - 2013-12-05 03:17

Ey up chris I NEVER forget a good boombox haha...a guy down here had a wall chart with her on in 87....i would be inclined to agree that she dosen't take batteries as i don't see the point with no handle....howeaver this service manual says she does...unless i have made a huge mistake....which is more likley the case

Good morning Reno! I honestly can't remember what box I bought from them I just remember the sellers name, which is likely either because they were really good or they were really bad lol

Yeh pleased with getting another GF9000, not quite sure what condition its in as the pics weren't great and its currently sitting in my sisters house down south.  Don't normally get 2 of the same but the first one is still missing its power supply and on/off switch so is battery only at the mo. Can't wait to get my mitts on it

radio.raheem - 2013-12-05 04:05

si would a power suply work out of a 777

not sure mate, they're both 15v boxes but the 9000 is something like 45w and the 777 I think is 60w so that affects the amps...or something lol...dunno.

I've actually got a 575 that I could scrap for the power supply which is the same voltage and wattage but I can't work out the wiring/switching...other problem is that the 9000 on/off switch was shattered too so I could do with the switch off a 9000 as the 575 is completely different.

radio.raheem - 2013-12-05 04:27

Ahh was just thinking of the suply from my 767 lad....it's rubbish (srap anyway).... im not posting the whole thing before anybody asks haha

well thanks for the thought anyway mate...appreciate it

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 05:01

Well she is here...and yes she does take batteries 10 d's which i find strange with no handle....

I can say this without a doubt this is the BEST boombox i have ever had....it weighs a geometric tonne and is huge....(easy to see why she is not portable) the build quality i have seen nothing like it....just the cd tray alone is ultra heavy duty...I went and asked my friend at the shop how much these retailed at....he couldnt belive i had one as they were so expensive back then....he said they retailed at £1000 in 86 so i was slightly out with the date....but i can belive it as i have had NOTHING like this before.....and that's all before the sound test which i have not done yet....just been stairing at her for the last hour

retro - 2013-12-06 05:09

Would it be possible to post more pics of this unit? Could it be possible there was an optional carry bag like the Bose AW-1? That is very strange...excellent find though RR.

retro - 2013-12-06 05:22

panasonic_rxcd100

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 05:46

God bless Retro....seriously i havn't tried her yet etc but ask me would i trade this for a bombeat 40 or the elk the answer would be no chance....i think she is way way to big for any carry bag retro . would class this as a midium sized stack

i may even buy a camera Retro just for this event (seriously)

btw that md boombox has just turned up too...nice warm clear sound but falls well short of the dp200 in power...so god knows why they didn't make her portable....but i like her

seb968 - 2013-12-06 06:56

Hi Reno mate! So you two nice machines to play with; just in time for Christmas. Fantastic

brutus442 - 2013-12-06 07:11

Well it clearly says portable on the manual though I find it hard to believe it without a handle

What a find Reno..a rare bird indeed! Promise us some pics when she arrives?

cheerz seb can't say i have ever had a better exmas than this...im gunna phone you later if that's ok dude

brutus she is here my friend that's what all the fuss is about haha

still havn't tried her no speaker cable...(lame excuse) i know....both decks need fixing

things to note says 58w power consumption on the back...has two 4 inch passive radiators one on the back of each speaker....each speaker is 3 ohm 30w peak imput whateaver that means....there is just no way this could be portable....its just far to heavy and ultra long...with a huge depth....but she is ultra thin only about an inch  taller than cassette...and i have the all important remote too

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 09:46

About to just found some speaker wire

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 10:32

crystal clear good mids quite loud nice warm bass but not as heavy as expected.....

other people may be blown away with the sound im not sure haha it does sound much better than my panasonic fd 80 and panasonic rx cd 70 though....i know that dosen't help as most people don't have them

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 11:27

An update with the jvc with mini disk.....nearly as powerful as the dp200 bass and highs are just as good....she has a real mid control unlike the dp200 (just another bass conrol)

out of the two boxes that arrived today the jvc is the clear winner....the highs are slightly better on the panasonic though due to dedicated REAL tweeters....bit of an anti climax for the panasonic since so much effort went into the build quality...

the most important thing is....i feel like im starting to get a nice collection again... i felt NAKED without my m90 etc...but that wont happen again

radio.raheem - 2013-12-06 17:26

Ok news in regarding the panasonic....basically im blind haha.....i managed to find an XBS switch this has made a differance.....big smile.....yes she is no kaboom but i would agree this was easly panasonics top box in 86....since i have the panasonic fd80 and cd70..which was a couple of models underneath this..and this blows them away...im so glad i have her now....yea its not thunderous bass but for 86 it would have been superb....one other thing which is the biggest suprize the highs seem as good as the m90 which is very rare in this game......big hats off to panasonic for sheer build quality and YES a great sound,,,,top box of 86 i recommend

driptip - 2013-12-06 22:17

the units looks very nice rr,  and if it sounds almost as a m90 what else can you ask for, glad you like it , love reading your updates.

radio.raheem - 2013-12-07 16:43

cheerz DT it sounds very similar to the dt707 without surround my friend
