Hi, i got a 990 but it got a lot of different problems. I tried to find a service manual or schematics for it but didn't find anything Frown.

What`s the problem. I`m guessing, the tape won`t work?

Hi Muto,if it has cassette deck problems,i think it will need more than just a service manual to repair that,i'm Quite a brave man,i'de have ago at anything, but the TPR990 i had was beyond impossible,it had the most ridiculous pointless impossible deck i've ever worked on..try and leave it as it is if you can,and just use an Mp3 player..

Heh, i noticed that the tape is quite complex. Problems are: tape does not work, right channel is dead and tuner is stuck somehow, only possible to listen stations from 95->98Mhz.

Yes they are "VERY" COMPLICATED !!! the idea behind that deck just was'nt nessasery at all, they could have/should have used a more simple deck,if they did, mine would have still been here today, instead, its gone to the scrap heap in the sky, shame aswell because cosmetically it was mint..

The tuner problem could be the string getting tangled, and the dead channel could be dirty switch,or record switch,if its the audio ic,thats weird..unless someone has connected a set of hifi speakers to it and shorted the wires..

I agree paul. The deck, is the daftest idea i have seen. Using a gearbox to work the functions. If the alignment of the gears goes out (normal) it causes problems. The service manual, show`s you how to align it all, but, i wouldn`t try it.
