FS: Lasonic TRC-931 that ISN'T BROKEN!

aaron7 - 2009-12-24 08:08

This is the original one, NOT that crappy 1990's one or that crappier new POS! (no offence to you new Lasonic owners :P)

This box works great for the most part. Radio works, AUX works (I use my Ipod), the input selector switch is NOT broken, speakers work, all lights work... etc.

What doesn't work are the tape decks. Both seem to want to work but the tape doesn't turn. I'm figuring just bad belts. Easy fix for a stereo shop.

The cassette buttons also came off but I have all of them. Not sure how to put them back on. I even have two spares!

This is missing nothing either. Battery cover is there, all knobs are present, etc.

Works fine off either batteries or AC power.

Asking $250 firm.

It's not a 1st edition TRC-931, but that ain't bad...

Tape decks don't work, strange spot on the top, possibly broken deck buttons... In this economy, your box isn't worth the $250 you're asking for. But then again, you could probably get that amount on eBay. Nod Yes Maybe you should auction it off 'cause - unless they're desperate for a Lasonic - I doubt if anybody here jumps at your box - especially when there's a possibility of getting one that's fully working with everything intact for less money. Wink

Regardless, good luck with your potential sale. Smile

I thought there were three revisions? Were there four?

The spot on top can be cleaned off, I just hadn't for the pics.

The buttons all function on the tape deck but the covers have come off.

If I can find somewhere that repairs stereos I'll have them replace the belts as I'm sure that's all that is wrong. The mechanisms work fine and the motor turns but the tape doesn't.

I've seen some crazy 931 prices on ebay lately and I cut $100 off for the problems on this box; that's how I arrived at $250.

Cash talks I suppose. It works fine and looks awesome so I'm happy keeping it.

There are 3 versions. Wink This is the 1st edition TRC-931:

You have the 2nd edition with the VU meters on the left side. This is the 3rd edition with the rounded edges:

I don't consider the i931 a 4th edition 'cause that's an all new model based on an iPod, not a cassette deck - so it's not a TRC... In about who-knows-how-many-years-from-now, there may be a 2nd edition i931. Wink

Yeah, stereo repair shops are hard to find these days. Frown I know of one where I work and they charge around $50. Nod Yes

As for those prices on eBay, I only see 'em selling for those prices - around the $250 range - when the decks work. eBay is funny tho... You might get MORE money! Cool You might get less money! Frown eBay is a gamble, regardless of how well conditioned your box is.
