Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 12:37

i had one of those ,its probobly the most kick ass egg you will ever hear.even tho it really looks cool and sounds awesome.

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 12:39

that is so cheap for that box ,i know it cost alot more than that new.its worth it,damn i wish i had the bread i would grab that one.i think this box has the volume knob that moves when you use the remote.

- 2008-06-05 13:17

it's a great egg damn im in the same boat as floyd or i would have it otherwise, i was given a jvc egg the other day and WOW it sounds better than any m90 i have heard just not as loud, people should stop knocking eggs they sound better than most traditonal square boxes.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 13:18

I Agree

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 13:43

i think the eggs design has a more rigid cabinet lending itself to better accoustic and more bass from smaller drivers ,plus the rxdt 707 has some big ass tweeters and thats always a bonus. i think its the first cobra top or at least the first one i ever saw until i bought one back in like 1990 or so.i was blown away just by the sophistcation and sound of it ,it was a new boombox design at that time totally different from what was previously on the market .

- 2008-06-05 13:56

Good evening ira Smile i was so amazed by this egg guess what the first thing i did after getting it home? i took it to bits Laugh Out Loud i had to find out where the bass was coming from , its got no hyper bass box inside, its just got a good set of speakers in and some very clever bass tubes angled at the back of the speakers, the mod no is pc-x720 and the real funny part is it in such a state grills have dents grills need painting and spots of paint everywhere. I diddn' even know what am egg was when i first joined stg, Litfan used to go on about them all the time Laugh Out Loud but now im totally converted and realized i had had eggs in the past, ofcorse like anything not all eggs are good.

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 14:03

i scrambles a few egg radio's with a baseball bat my buddy pitched them at me and i made them go kablooey.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 14:04

tim --before i bid big $ for my 707 egg -- i asked all our s2g EGGSPERTS -- Smile
litfan, uncle ed and joe cool -
and they all said that THIS is the best of the wide world of eggs -- really.

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 14:06

yeah i think the panasonic eggs are by far the best ,like little oval kaboom boxes.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 14:12

but kabooms cant go kablooey Laugh Out Loud

i hate to disagree ira when i say this new jvc of mine has a much warmer sound than the dt707 but ofcourse i havn't compared them the real crazy thing this egg has no gadgets like the 707 no fliptop but on sound i think it wins mind you another feature the jvc lacks is surround so i supose acounting for what the jvc lacks in features the 707 is still king of the eggs.

good evening mate the panasonic's sure are king of eggs they have such a wide range.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 14:25

good evening to you also , tim Smile

you might be right - i never heard a jvc egg --
NO hurry -- but sometime - please post a photo with the model #

- 2008-06-05 14:35

I have the dt707 on now ira the jvc has a slightly richer bass but the 707 is still king of the eggs Big Grin mind you the jvc has just as clear a trebble and get this it has no tweeters Eek and i should think the 707 is louder since the 707 uses 10 d,s the jvc 8 but the latter is still loud if you see one get one Smile

jvc.floyd - 2008-06-05 14:48

i have a little panasonic egg i found in the trash sounds pretty damn good too and it all works ,but i hate a box where the buttons are the same color as the box cuz its hard to figure out the damn buttons lol.

reli - 2008-06-05 16:46

All this time I thought egg boxes were for chicks Laugh Out Loud

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 16:55

ash25 - 2008-06-05 20:39

After reading all the good comments and raves about this EGG, fought hard going back and forth and back and forth, wondering why this was still available. Not particularly what I consider OLD SCHOOL,but I hit the buy it now anyways. So, who else here has one of these? How wide is it? Seems like a decent price.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-05 21:31

NICE going -- when you first hit the surround button -- i bet you think its the best box money ever spent --mine was alot over 200 --
its big and heavy -- about 28 wide
litfan and rimmer and enskanker have them --
----no lightweights there Smile

ash25 - 2008-06-06 02:18

Cool. Thanks!!!

enskanker - 2008-06-06 03:30

How do they sound?

Those top of the line Cobra-top Panasonics sound astonishing - as good as a decent mini/midi system & they go very loud too, without losing the sound quality.

Remember, looks aren't everything (says my wife...).

If that eBay auction was in London, I'd have the guy's hand off at that price - a real bargain, despite the tape deck issue.

Tim, which JVC egg is it? Model mumber? Is it one of the Hyper bass ones?

- 2008-06-12 07:57

HI paul it's the pc-x720 and no it dosen't have a hyper bass box inside it dosen't need it maybee jens can help with a pick here that would be great Smile

crek.173 - 2008-06-12 10:48

Have any of you ever heard the F80 by Meridian? That is by far the best "egg" you will ever hear. It is $3K though, so the most expensive too. We have one in our demo room. The thing is insane. I will post pics when I get a chance.

meeh, it's not in the 'base...
nothing on the interweb either...
Tim, go find that charger for your camera!

crek.173 - 2008-06-12 11:23

http://www.meridian-audio.com/p_f80_frame.htm
This is the link for the F80. Unfortunately this little thing blows away almost any grail I have ever heard. Meridian is ridiculous sounding in the first place. That is why we just sold a guy a pair (just two) of speakers for $60K and a cd player for $17K. I still would rather have an old school box any day no matter what the sound quality, just a different vibe I guess.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-12 11:33

amazing -- thanks for the link--

do you have a retail stereo shop --or is it all a custom 'by appointment only' showroom ?

crek.173 - 2008-06-12 11:43

it is a custom "appointment only" showroom. Any members are welcome to come by and check it out. We do ridiculous A/V systems in ridiculous sized houses. $200K-$1M is the average job. Just think the collection of BB's you could get for that. I am the buyer so I just work deals all day with manufactorers. I try and get them to buy me boxes instead of trying to wine and dine me. So far, only one rep has realized that if he buys a box for under $500 for me, it is an easy incentive for me to make sure our numbers are up on his account. All the hi-end a/v guys laugh at me when I tell them about my addiction. They laugh anyway, I am not your typical buyer in this industry. A little on the rough sideSmile

redbenjoe - 2008-06-12 11:48

it must be great to work with the best of the best --and then have those happy customers--

on that level - there must be upgrades every few months

vladi123456 - 2008-06-12 17:33

The F80 is designed in collaboration with Ferrari - i wonder what Ferrari's contribution was to it - other than the logo Big Grin

crek.173 - 2008-06-12 18:23

Meridian just teamed up with Ferrari so your car can match your speakers.....I guess the one uppers were running out of stuff to top their friends with. Sometimes my socks match...sometimes.
