Hi all, I'm considering selling one of my big Fisher PH492s. Two 8" woofers with two tweeter. Quality Fisher sound and quality. I believe this was their Cadillac model (IMHO ) I'm fond of these as you know but not sure if I really need 2 of these if I'm gonna buy other brand radios soon. It'll def. make my wife happy if I offset the costs of buying another by rolling this cash into the others. I'll post better pics later today but have this for now. It's the one on the bottom right. It's missing the top alum. trim plate, 1 eq. slider knob. and cassette motor is not working. EVERYTHING ELSE is original, complete and working great. It has a weighted dial, tuner light as well as the cool tuning "eye" for radio stations. AM/FM/SW1/SW2. 5 band eq. with stereo wide, Dolby, Metal,CrO2 Switches. Cool dual lighted meters (green into red). The twin antennas are original, complete and fully expand/retractable (2 tiny dimples on one's base). Strong handle, NO static or scratchiness. Very powerful radio- 32 watts. It has the 7 song cassette music search-but, the cassette motor is inop. unless someone can fix it. It was like that when I bought it. No cracks or chips, just light scuffs on various places from wear. Line In, Line Out and Phonos hookups. Just weighed it- 32.8 Lbs w/o batts. Battery cover intact, no corrosion. Has the original power cord. Just measured it at approx. 31" long X 7.5" deep at it's base X 14" tall w/o the 2" handle. I'll ONLY consider selling one of my babies to another valued S2G member. Well Ira your right about one thing for sure...someone needs to buy this 492. I could always unsuspectingly spring the Philips on him for it, but you just don't screw with cops man!

These totally sound great!

Mine is also missing the top trim. Its like Conions and their cassette doors. Not sure why that is???

Ive had it fully gone through, and now my PH-480 has been totally restored as well.

The 492 doesnt have the bass of the 480, but its louder, and a more clear sound.

One of the amazing things about these boxes is that the cassette mech sounds so good! Must be a real high quality set up.

Id only sell mine if I had two of them!

Someone needs to get past these being a 3 pc box and pick this up! That was my hang up for a long time, but Im so stoked that Ive started collecting Fishers!!! Great quality boxes...

And Heavy too....

I agree, I have had two 490's and a 480. I want a 492 but only because I like the speakers more! JLF, long time no talkie! I have a favor to ask, I will pm you about it,

Okay all, here's some pics as promised. In taking closeups, I noticed a tiny chip on the left speaker case (top rear corner)and the little black plastic cap that turns the cassette is missing (easy replacement). I placed a maple donut for size comparison but I think my dog Sammy kept eating away at it when I turned my head

Naw, Sammy is a great dog really. Best damn dog I've ever owned. Paid $1,800 for him with AKC Pedigree, DNA on file with etc.. 22 champions on his dad's side and 13 champs on his moms side. family tree traced back to 4 families in England or something like that. Damn dog has more documentation than some of my relatives
