Dear bx-me,

What History, do you know of this Aiwa? Are You the original Owner, If not, Whom Was the original Owner? Do you have the Instructions, owner's Manual for this, Can you find it? Are These the Original Speakers for this, Have the speakers been reFoamed or reConed? Has there been any Service work Performed on this? Can you show in another Movie, How well that the Music search work's in Either Direction for the Cassette? Here is a price sheet from 1983 showing that this only cost $290.00 Brand New http://i3.tinypic.com/4yi7zbc.jpg and or found here Brian Mills 1984-85 Catalogue http://stereo2go.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8306018954/m/7171089905 thanks James

It looks pretty nice "IMHO". Big Grin Cool

vladi123456 - 2008-04-14 07:48

I emailed the seller last night and asked if he would do free shipping with Buy it now, and he responded saying no, he wouldn't.
So after sleeping on it - I've decided to take it personally and not bid on this box at all Big Grin

bredgeo - 2008-04-14 12:12

Ira, do you have one yet??????

Is this one to high in price?

Not all original this one?

redbenjoe - 2008-04-14 12:35

thanks bredgeo --i did finally get one -

btw --to me - it all looks very original --but perhaps i cant tell --(as mine might NOT be Smile)

does it all look original to you guys ??

jameswp67 - 2008-04-14 12:48

I do not think the antennas are original, but it looks very clean...

panasonic.fan - 2008-04-14 16:22

These are fantastic radios, but for that price the seller should have had it in for a through servicing on the deck.

It's probably worth it at $400, but not $649.

Reply from Seller ... Drat He didnt Post my Question on his Listing ...

Dear decentman4you,

Dear James, thank you for your question.
I do not have any manuals for this radio and can not
tell you anything about the history of it as I purchased
it locally with the sole purpose of reselling it. Not sure
what you mean about the speakers, but from what I can see,
the outer ring looks like new on the center woofer
(is that a bad thing?) and the other speakers all look aged
but in perfect condition and do not show any signs of any
repairs. Antennas also look absolutely original. I had
someone help me with testing and the video, so we may do more
this weekend for you. I myself can not figure out the music search -
I press the MS button and numbers appear in the window and
I have no clue what to do with them. However, if it is so
important to you, and you buy this and discover that music seach
is not working, I will refund the shipping and insurance just for
this particular function. (If that makes any difference, one
other function that was tested is autostop and it is workng).
Thank you also for the historic reference; as you most likely know,
unlike in 1984, the dollar is no longer backed up by anything
tangible and is not worth more than 10-15 per cent of its value,
and with the economic stimulus refund coming
(read: more paper money printed) it is bound to drop even lower. Thanks!

sikorsky - 2008-04-14 21:59

Antennas are not original.
I can do photo of my AIWA CS-J88.
Also, I think speakers were repaired.
It is impossible to keep foam on them during 30 years.

vladi123456 - 2008-04-15 14:50

And now there's another one - $450 starting bid Aiwa 880

redbenjoe - 2008-04-15 14:58

No doubt they saw the other 880 and thought they could undercut them and make some $$'s. Are we going to see a rash of 880's now? Seems sales of the nicer boxes come in bunches.

vladi123456 - 2008-04-15 20:30

Ya, I know!! It's like that crazy week with four Sanyo 920s. And now we have two Aiwas - with one week to go. The first seller is probably biting his nails now for not accepting my offer Laugh Out Loud But ya - the second one is $200 cheaper - BIG difference

masterblaster84 - 2008-04-15 20:35

Vladi, I think your offer was very fair so it will be interesting to see what happens now. The seller responded to DM4U that he bought it strictly to resell it so I think he's getting greedy. Nod Yes

vladi123456 - 2008-04-15 20:38

Oh ya - he's definately getting greedy! I personally am not going bid on his. Are you thinking about bidding on the second one? $450 seems a LOT more reasonable

masterblaster84 - 2008-04-15 20:47

$450 is definitely more reasonable but the condition is on the low side for what I would like so I'm not sure I will even bid on it. Are you considering going for it?

vladi123456 - 2008-04-15 20:56

I'm like you - the condition is not up to my already pretty low standards Laugh Out Loud So I'll be just watching this one
