vladi123456 - 2008-03-04 20:01

Not my cup of tea, but a lot of people love them....
Conion 1
Conion 2

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-04 20:38

I know what you mean Vladi but I'm watching, if they don't get to insane then we'll see. Wink

Seen them as soon as they were listed but CONION #2 is the cheaply made in KOREA Repro. Eek Note the differences...

indeed,

well spotted ,beast!

well done.

differences to the Japan edition:

1) the round knobs have more of a mirrored look except for the big tuning one
2)the buttons in the bottom deck have like a stick out design instead of being flat...
3)bottom tape directional lights are missing
4)MSSI button is missing
5)vu meters are missing....
6)top deck are missing "the middle" F/R and stop buttons and it has a somewhat different design in
that area..
7)rec level knob is missing..obviously no VU meters...

8)says made in Korea in the back where as the real "original" says made in japan....
9) and some of the lettering in certain parts look re-arranged as well...
10)the parts that were removed were covered and replaced with lettering or symbols...
11)edit button missing
12)conion lettering on top looks flushed instead raised letters

Yo v u should invest in one these models they are both highly collectible, and if anything the the korean model is extremly rare to find.

- 2008-03-05 08:31

The seller of those 2 Conions should be ashamed of himself for leaving them in that state of NEGLECT and filth...it's horribble Mad

redbenjoe - 2008-03-05 08:45

well gordie - we can always send them to TA and get them spiffed up Smile
------------------------------------

btw - i dont need these - and this seller is only 8 miles away -- so i wish i could at least go over and pre-inspect them for any members -- but he wont allow that --
so , at any price -- be careful

Spiffed up is an understatement, that was the equivelant of a complete frame off restoration of a classic car.

- 2008-03-05 08:56

Ira, no doubt transamguy did the BEST job ever seen here on S2G on restoring a Conion...with that being said...maybe it's just me, but as a collector my boxes need to be ORIGINAL and not "restored"...but that's how i am with everything that i collect...i'm picky Laugh Out Loud

It will be interesting to see how much these things sell for.

We should start a betting pool: closest estimate to final sale price wins all the cash. I say...$800 for the first one, $400 for the junker. I'm putting $10 bucks on it (just kidding).

jimski - 2008-03-05 15:10

beast it is about collecting have u forgot that. This is a rare peice.

transamguy1977 - 2008-03-05 15:59

Oh no !!! Im having flashbacks. Laugh Out Loud
Well who ever gets them will have alot of work to do.
They are worth it though.
You cant be fussy if you buy a box like that because there will be things you will definitely have to live with.
There is no restoring that stainless stuff especially the dents .
and the plastic parts , unless you send them out to be re-chromed those parts will have to be lived with as well.
I wouldn't have even attempted to do mine if certain things I know would bother me couldn't have been fixed.
I hope they both find a new home where they will be loved.

Got some left over materials Leaving

Yes but i appreciate QUALITY and not cheaply made boomboxes. Wink Not all boombox collectors collect any old piece of cheaply made boxes just because it is considered "scarce" by another collector. I leave dozens at yard sales every summer and some you would consider scarce but not me. Hey there are scarce barbie dolls too Laugh Out Loud

Beast the conion japan model was considered cheap a peice of **** back in the day...But i feel you.Im in to getting all the models. Not just the money getters like others. If u seen that korean model at a yard sale u would scoop it up seeing dollar sighns

- 2008-03-05 17:37

I did see it at a pawn shop for $100.00 and i would not even pay $50 for it. Trust me,it does not even come close to the real thing. It's very cheaply made in comparison and the sound is not like the original either. Eek

Yo lend me some cash and im in I have my stash allready betting on an ipod lasonic box it is another peice of s h i t but it is collectible Wink It is all for the rich now..Like big V lol

- 2008-03-05 18:01

I'll say $500.00 for the real thing and $300.00 for the junker. The only reason the junker will go that high is because some buyers don't know the difference and he calls it "ORIGINAL".

You never know man, give it a try near the end. They probably won't go as high as usual because there are 2 on ebay at the same time..plus they look rough.
