i931 - It's starting

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-04 15:58

It had to happen, Someone is trying to sell an i931 for $599 + $80 for shipping. Can someone say Playstation III or XBox 360? Is this seller a member here?
i931

I've heard of "flipping" real estate, and someone on the news today said that Tata Motors in India may be planning to buy Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford in order to "flip" them for a quick profit.

But flipping a $219 (with free shipping) Lasonic for $599 + $80 shipping??? Is nothing sacred? No No

$15,000 for a meet-and-greet with Scarlett Johansson is a better deal! Roll Eyes

quite sad indeed..

Even worse if somebody buys it, they will be available shortly so only a fool would cough up that kind of $$$ for an i931.

jovie - 2008-03-04 19:10

I just don't get some people. If I took advantage of someone's poor judgement like that I would be absolutely crippled with guilt!

moncheeto - 2008-03-04 19:10

you could buy a jvc kaboom with have of that money and it has an ipod dock...

panasonic.fan - 2008-03-04 19:14

What a tool.....

- 2008-03-04 19:17

Ah, the good ol' Hato tour bus... Thanks for reminding me of Tokyo, baby boomer! Cool

Back on topic... That's pretty foul, but what do you expect from opportunists? No No I hope "$599 guy" gets nothing! Big Grin

Ah... sweet memories of Tokyo! But get a good look while you can, because I'm changing the avatar back to a baby-with-a-boomer. I've decided (for now, anyway) to leave the bus avatars to James, the real bus driver among us.

As for the topic, I suppose I'm being a little too judgmental, but, wow, $599 + outrageou$ $hipping just sounds so... well... greedy! I mean, this seller got one of these i931's for himself (perfectly OK) and another one just to make a killing on eBay, thereby depriving a real collector from getting one @ $219 from Lasonic! (After all, they only had 20 for sale in this initial batch!)

I guess it's no worse than ticket scalping or (probably) half the prices on eBay. But it seems unfair. Let's hope Urban Outfitters gets tons of i931's later this month, so that everyone who wants one gets one for around $219. That'll show Mr. $599!! Mad

peter.griffin - 2008-03-05 13:37

yeah, this is insane. These people bought it for quick profit, when it could have gone into a members good homeFrown

MB84 started another thread with the same thing, sorry. Didn't see this one. Jens/PF, could you delete my thread about the same thing. Thanks.

Here is another one. It's now raining iPOD instead of the usual JVC M70's Eek http://cgi.ebay.com/Lasonic-i931-Boombox_W0QQitemZ23022...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

i931

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-05 21:42

I noticed.
So what makes these sellers think the first i931's are worth two to three times retail? It's not like other items that have had people shoving each other out of the way to grab an X-Box 360 or a Tickle me Elmo. Anybody who has followed the i931 should realize more are coming and there's no panic.

baby.boomer - 2008-03-05 21:51

From the listing:
Have more than 1 if interested. Just email.

So, why did Lasonic allow folks to buy more than one of the initial 20?? (I wonder if they had any limit. What if someone had asked for all 20?!?) That just invites scalping/flipping.

And to think that genuine, passionate collectors saw "sold out" because scalpers made off with multiple units. Shameful! Mad

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-05 22:23

A limit of one would have been a good idea, at least for the initial supply. These flippers probably would have gotten around that with multiple accounts, friends and family, etc... but it might have slowed them down enough for the collectors to get more of them.

I really hope we get the last laugh and these turds get stuck with a supply of i931 they can't make any money on, at least right now anyway. Who knows what will happen to their value in a few years, that will depend on Lasonic.

isolator42 - 2008-03-10 11:04

Here's another chancer:
Marked up i931... "sold out everywhere" it says.

...apart from here:
slightly less marked up i931s

eeh, it's good old supply & demand. Anyone know if they work with 220-240V AC in?

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-10 11:08

Pretty funny isolator, it seems some opportunists thought they would be able to double or triple their money but the joke is on them. They will be lucky just to recover their costs after ebay fees.

I'm getting a big laugh out of it. Laugh Out Loud

- 2008-03-11 15:43

This seller has 2 of them with a buy-it-now of $240.00 EACH. I'd pay $24.00 for one when the arrive at Zellers or Walmart Big Grin

oldskool69 - 2008-03-11 16:08

This is no different than the Nintendo Wii's for sale on eBay. People will buy a load of these i931's and sell them at a huge profit to the unknowing. Mad If it were Christams it probably would be worse. Matter of fact, I would not be surprised if this were the hottest toy for Christmas '08. Roll Eyes

I Agree and the price on these will only go DOWN.
