I was sort of thinking about maybe hitting the BIN on the UK unit myself. I mean... pristine 5500, box, manual, styrofoam. But I hesitated and I lost. Someone else here in the U.S. snapped it up for $450 + $150 shipping. I can't decide if I should kick myself or be grateful.

That 5500 w/ shortwave was one of my early purchases off of ebay back when I first joined this site in 2003....I later sold it on ebay (and regret it ever since). Spectacular Panasonic quality! I remember this radio being carried by Earth Wind and Fire back in 79-80 or so on a commercial.Very nice!

would you look at the pinch roller on that thing. Never even been dirty...
