Watch out for this seller

This guy originally listed this Prosonic 9960 with a starting bid of $9.99 with $40 shipping. Nobody bid on it, so the tool increased the starting bid to $99.99! Roll Eyes No No

I just got this message from the seller in reply to a question:

quote:
hello, didn't releist but bumped opening bid as no one had bid. won't give this away for $9.99. thanks

How 'bout that... Roll Eyes

kid.sensation - 2008-09-12 08:48

I can't see the point of selling a obvious parts box for that kind of money.

And when i look at that drilled screw for the DIY-hold-the-tape Roll Eyes

that screw ruins it all imho.bad damage to the casing.

I'd be a more than happy and satisfied seller if i'd get about the half of that starting bid.

C'mon guys...that L-bracket thingy makes this a one-of-a-kind collector piece! Ubber-rare! No wonder the seller jacked up the opening bid... Laugh Out Loud

that box is not worth 200 bucks even if it was in good shape , i would not spend that kind of money on too many parts boxes except an m90 a conion, j1 or rx 5350 because there isn't 200 bucks worth of parts in that thing he is selling.

Since when, if an item doesn't sell, do you increase the starting bid - 10x, no less! - when you re-list it?? Am I missing some sort of secret strategy here?

Laugh Out Loud Just like the seller has the right to ask stupid money we have the right not to pay. Big Grin

Last week I saw an auction for a radio on german ebay: starting bid 1 Euro, Shipping Cost 10000 Euro. First I thought this must be a mistake, but the seller said in his description something like: don´t send me suggestions on my auction, I know what I´m doing...
Really strange thing. Can´t find this one now, but if, I´ll post a link.

Obviously, the seller is trying to avoid eBay fees. It's an old trick. Fortunately, at least on U.S. eBay, excessive shipping charges can be reported, and it's something (one of the few things, since it affects their income) eBay will do something about.
