redbenjoe - 2008-08-26 04:59

godsmacked -- for the first time --i finally agree with you about something Laugh Out Loud

from his pictures --no bidders could ever tell what a clean looking jvc he has.

ford93 - 2008-08-26 05:22

Hey, RBJ why is that others can post about auctions from ebay and is O.K. but when I post about an auction some uses me as an example as to why we should'nt. You PM'd me and advised me on Jens thread but I guess is O.K. for others huh.

jt - 2008-08-26 06:09

I think this RC50 thread actually supports my point about how this forum boosts boombox value...

The biggest difference here is that thread was started by the actual ebay seller. Personally, I don't have a problem with that. If I put a box on ebay, I will list it here, too.

But, consider that its Dormie's first thread. He signed up on Monday and obviously thinks that posting his auction here will net him more $$$$. Smart guy.

And his efforts appear to be paying off. I noticed that since he posted this thread here, his auction has gone up in value over $60 just this morning after three prior days of no-bids.

Since eBay changed the bidder name view there is no way of knowing for sure if any of those new bidders are members here... But I bet at least one or two of them are.

redbenjoe - 2008-08-26 06:19

hi ford -- i am sorry that this subject is so hard for all us friends to talk about --

so please let me TRY to explain what the differences are :

when we make posts --all about some NON-members ebay M90 --its just another ebay promotion--- $$$

but in my humble opinion --when we try to help our OWN members with their ebay sales --thats WAY different --

like this dormie guy -- is a brand new member -with a very weak ebay listing --so i think its good to help him out with it.

another example -- is that last week - i posted an ebay listing about a spectacular quality BOSE model --and , yes , it was from a non-member seller --
but - the ONLY way i was ever lucky enough to even know about this great box --
was that member , optimus prime - posted about one here (a year ago) --so i bought it --was HAPPY -and wanted you guys to get one .

so --i do , often post ebay stuff here --
but its a real 'judgement call' about ::

WHAT HELPS MEMBERS -- vs , what helps sellers.

here is a worthy story --( i hope)???

do you guys remember -about six month ago -when old buddy sinister needed his tranny fixed FAST ??
so he TRIED to post up a good bunch of boxes for us on this forum
for IMMEDIATE SALE --

but all his boxes could hardly even get noticed on the SECOND PAGE here Mad
and that was all because we had members posting 50 to 70 NON- member ebay 'grails' per each week !!
i was bumping up sins posts like crazy -- but still could not keep any of his boxes in daylight.

as for me --back then - i had at least a dozen REAL GOOD boxes (or i thought they were) Smile
posted at that same time --
nobody paid any attention --because of the constant string of ebay grails were ALWAYS posted on top --

so - i stopped posting boxes here.

___________________

anyhow -- its only up to the moderators about how we use this sales forum -
so hope they jump in here once again --
-------------

------also Laugh Out Loud -- i still have about 20 over-priced POS boxes to unload on you guys -so really cant afford to piss any more members off.

so ford , are you still there !!! Smile

ford93 - 2008-08-26 07:08

So members here are O.K. to post their ebay auction and it is O.K. for another member to mention it, so how the hell are you suppose to know when it is an S2G member and when it's not. You know this is dumb really!

Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham is what this is.

Thanks GS... Now, the real question is, did you see the auction here, or did you see it on eBay first?

Hey JT, I absolutely agree with your conclusion regarding the M50 auction. I saw it on eBay not too long after it was listed. For days, it was only $29. Since Dormie posted about it, the price has shot over $60 with six bids. It definitely helps a seller to list a boombox auction here.

I still firmly believe that we need a specific forum section for nothing but "other sellers and auctions" (not just eBay). It would take less than a minute to actually implement and I still don't understand the reluctance of the mods to get it done.

Having separate "for sale" sections for members and others would ultimately help out both. It would allow members' postings to stay on the first page longer and it would help people find nothing but eBay listings if that's what they desire.

EBAY !!! there is not a listing service through here 'stg' controlled by anyone here ... just wishfull thinking and honor,? because they havnt had one yet because they cannot afford one yet... Use your credit card ... that's what america is all about ... debt ....

dormie - 2008-09-10 18:50

hello everyone,
i appreciate all your comments and thoughts,

one reason i posted here is i just found this site, which has many knowledgeable members,
and helpful members with a passion for boomboxes,

i wanted the rc-m50c to go to someone who really
has an appreciation for JVC boomboxes,
and this unit was fully functional and in good cosmetic condition,

getting more $ is always good, but getting $10,20,50 more on an ebay sale is not going to change anyone's life in any dramatic way,

thank you all again

redbenjoe - 2008-09-10 19:12

thank you for this above post , Dormie--

and once again -- welcome Smile
