bah.. got the sansui today.. a bit disapointed though.. arrived DOA.. so took it apart.. some ass had done some repair work on it.. and battery acid was the culprit.. dummy rewired one of the speaker connectors to a resistor instead of just following the etched path.. result? burnt resistor.. cant see the bands for ohmage so ordered a service manual online.. why am i doing this instead of just returning it? cuz this is one hell of a well biult machine.. and is worth puttin a little effort to get it 100%.. it has seperate amps for both channels.. dolby.. high quality parts inside.. 20 watts per channel through 2 way speakers.. and wooden cabinets to boot.. a bit pissed that i'll have to wait to hear her roar.. but from the looks and biuld.. it will be well worth the wait!!

So me thinks if he says if it's NIB then it probally is or nearly so as I am a very satisfied customer of his.

p.s. in a conversation from him when i bought the 720 from him he sent along a power switch for the Sharp GF-777 that I needed for mine that has that power switch problem...

so hopefully that can help your confidence in this seller Wink I Agree

Cool! I'm thinking I need to take a closer look at my M9990 and see if there's a date code in the batt compartment. Probably 1978 or 79. (not home right now, so I can't check)...

As for this 9975, it does look pretty damn good. However, I have a personal rule that I have put on myself... if there are no separate bass & treble knobs (like this one only has the tone knob) then I am not interested. It will only sound "so" good. Guaranteed not as good as my M9990.

James, "Brand New In The Box" means exactly that. The box will be factory sealed and the boombox inside will have never been removed.

How can something be brand new when you have the following:

Geesh! The nerve of some people to call a boombox in that condition "brand new". Roll Eyes No No

- 2008-08-24 02:33

yes you are correct about all of that,,, just me was I guess over looking that one has to open these (nib's ) to show what's inside and that it is new ... yes?

{{{{ Would you Buy a NIB unopened from anybody anywhere Boombox ??? -- without being able to see inside ?????????????????????????? }}}

now there's a question above there in brackets I Agree

( James, "Brand New In The Box" means exactly that. The box will be factory sealed and the boombox inside will have never been removed.

How can something be brand new when you have the following:

Missing the foam in the box
It needs a new belt installed for the tape deck
Missing microphone clips to attach them to the radio )

Gee its nice to know what actually comes in all of these when it's new ... never knew about the microphone clips and yes the belt does make you wonder,,, why does it need a belt? but this person repair's these things and why doesnt he install this belt himself I dont know either ,,, and has the parts for some of them like he helped me with a part...

I seem to remember reading about a JVC M90 or M70 (I think it was an M70) that was still sealed in its box. Sold for several thousand, I believe...

Point is..., the buyer paid to have the box x-rayed to verify contents.

I'm pretty sure I read about it here, then there was a link where you could read an article and see pics of the x-rays. This happened during the time when the $1800 M70-in-a-box auction was going on...

Personally, I can't imagine spending so much money on something and not taking it out to play, at least a couple of times... But, it does apparently happen!

Even if sealed, after all that time wouldn't the tape deck belts lose their strength and become brittle or, even worse, gooey? And there are lubricants, too.

Its been my experience that tape decks that last longest without servicing are the ones that are moderately used.

Incidentally, I noticed there is another one of these on the bay right now, but it needs belts and is not quite as clean as this one. There is no reserve and its going for about the same price as a fast food lunch right now...

Yeah but not really as close to mint as the other one listed. New in box. Remeber guys these things are 20 something years old and belts dry out and break after being played for 10 to fifteen minutes after playing it for the first time in 20 something years. You all know that and by the way I do have this model in pretty nice condition and it is just as or if not louder than the M9990 as I compare alot of my radio's. The only downside as someone mentioned it does not have seperate treble and bass but still has nice strong sound to it. I also bought two radio's from him and I was very satisfied with the radio's and woild buy from him again. He also sent me a cpoy of a GF777Z Manual for free. Good communication fast shipping and honest but that is Just my opinion.
