Hi, I am new to this forum and to ghetto blasters in general. I was on eBay and found this - http://cgi.ebay.com/Hitachi-Boombox-AM-FM-Stereo-Casset...3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Thought it was a nice box.
wow thats a big url lol hope it works

hey welcome aboard Smile

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-25 18:50

Welcome aboard! Nod Yes

It's a pretty basic box, non-working cassette.....

For $45? I'd offer $5-10, that's about all it's worth and only if the cassette is an easy fix.

I Agree with PF -- this is not a big $$ money collector box

however - this same seller is excellent (check out his massive feedback)
and he is a good supplier to many s2g members -

so - my advice is that the $5-$10 offer may be insulting.

Roll Eyes

Much better advice from Ira. Offer $100, make the seller happy. Makes a good hood ornament.

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-26 07:09

Sorry, that might have been a touch overly sarcastic.

Consider this:

If any member here saw this radio sitting at Goodwill, as basic of a box as you can get with a non-working deck, they would either pass on it or pay $5-10.

I fail to see why it's worth $45 or slightly less in an offer, just because it's sitting up on Ebay from a "known good seller". Overpriced is overpriced regardless of the seller, no?

redbenjoe - 2008-12-26 07:24

finally --we might agree Smile
this is the type of box that members, jared , etc often find at goodwill for 5 bucks --
so -perhaps the updated advice -- is to just let this one go -- without an offer ?

panasonic.fan - 2008-12-26 07:32

Check your PM Ira.

What's wrong with offering what in this case is clearly the value of the radio? $10 isn't a bad offer. Perhaps a $20 opening bid with a make offer option would be less insulting.....

redbenjoe - 2008-12-26 07:48

well - with the $18 for s/h -- then IMHO even 10 bucks --brings it to $28 --which , at least for me --is too much --
so thats why i advised him to just drop it --and save $28 for a better box

JVC 770

For non working deck, that JVC is a better deal, I think...

jaredscottfla - 2008-12-26 23:35

Well i'll chime in. Very Basic And Def Not Worth $45.00/ I would not make an offer on it,And Yes Ira,I've seen it thrifting and Have the Box,I pd @ 7.00 With it Fully Working,I saw one for $20 BIN on Ebay Awhile Back,That's ok,With Everything Working. Pan Fan is Right with No tape $5 is about all it's worth. Btw The Shipping To me in Fla is Nr $20 With The volitile Ups. I would def Pass on it!In Regard to the seller I'll just say,i don't think he's a super seller. Jt,The Rc 770 is a Dog. Sorry But True. I had one The sound sucked,It's neat looking with the tuner on the bottom, but soundweise VERY dissapointing,It's by far the worst Jvc i've ever had,and i was happy to get rid of Mine.
IMHO $$$ potential Buyers Put Your Hard Earned $$$ Twds Somethin' Else! Pass on Both! Smile
