The BIN is gone! Frown I want a 9696 but I want it to be like my others Sharps, near mint. I know that limits the options but what the hell I don't have to have one so I can wait.

the BIN was ONLY $165 --

so it did seem like a great deal -- to me --especially that i think i paid way over 400 to get one delivered here from peppin

- 2008-06-09 18:29

gee i would have jumped on that ... dont matter what little was wrong with it heck i havent ever read all that much of it cept what i have glanced at over here

This is the price all boxes should go for, well done to whomeaver bought it.

ford93 - 2008-06-09 20:40

Last I checked it was for $102 plus dollars with six more days to go.

Some zero-feedback newbie decided the $165 BIN wasn't good enough, so he put in a $100 minimum bid. Bye-bye-buy-it-now. Nice move!

Now watch this box go for more than the BIN. Grrrrr. Mad

redbenjoe - 2008-06-09 21:15

imho --
there really are occasions when its best to kill a seemingly great BIN --
but this was not one of them Smile

sikorsky - 2008-06-09 21:32

I'm hunting for silver version GF-508 ST

mehyar - 2008-06-10 00:37

I happen to see this one with similar BIN
and in much better condition....
for friends in UK:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=30...%26otn%3D4%26ps%3D42

and this one is International version with
correct FM tuner range and AC adjustable

ao - 2008-06-10 06:33

Yeah i was tempted to go for that too, price is just a little high.

Sorry didn't mean to confuse, I was referring to the UK 9494 being a good price. Smile

jameswp67 - 2008-06-10 10:18

the bin prices were almost identical...Part Time worries me. I have bought from him and not been impressed at all.

redbenjoe - 2008-06-10 11:01

i think a 9696 normally is more $$valuable than a 9494.
my last few part -time buys were not terrific Smile - but there were honest descriptions

masterblaster84 - 2008-06-10 11:15

I would agree on all counts.
The 9696 generally sells for more than a 9494. I have only heard bad or OK reports about Part time, never heard a favorable review of that seller so it makes me a little cautious with his auctions. Nod Yes

redbenjoe - 2008-06-10 11:19

I Agree about bof matters Smile

baby.boomer - 2008-06-10 12:00

OK, so maybe it wasn't so bad that someone killed the BIN.

a. It saved me from an impulse buy I might have regretted.
b. It's given me a chance to bid on a box I would've missed if someone had snapped it up with BIN (though I probably won't).
c. It might actually sell below the BIN price (though it probably won't).

So... thank you, zero-feedback newbie!

oldskool69 - 2008-06-10 12:52

I've bought a few boxes from him and they were all A+, exactly what he said it was. I never heard anything bad about parttime22. Smile

masterblaster84 - 2008-06-10 13:15

Here is an example of what this seller has done around 1 to 2 years ago.

Although I don't remember the models any more he did sell a few boxes with replacement drivers, yes the buyers did ask before buying and were assured the drivers were original. Does this mean he's a bad seller? not necessarily however it does add a cloud of suspicion. Those cases could be isolated and the seller could actually be good however it takes time for wounds like that to heal.

I don't like hearing about these bad transactions or being involved in them like most of us. Many of you may have had good transactions with him and that's great but it only takes a few bad transactions to sour the sellers reputation and unfortunately this seller has had a few.

jlf - 2008-06-10 19:21

My first and only rodeo with this seller wasnt good.

However Ira... if you think they have improved lately?

I didnt see the BIN either! I would have jumped on it for that price.

Even though these are on the small side of what I like to collect. Smile

jlf - 2008-06-10 19:26

Wow... like four comments while I was typing mine!

My experience was on a personal grail, an MX-900.

My repair guy said it wasnt even possible to repair because someone had simply taped in a bunch of components to make it 'look' like a complete box. Not much inside was original to the box.

It famously became a prop in a Hip Hop video some of you may remember from a year or two ago.

His story at the time was that a guy who owned a radio repair shop owed him big, so he simply gave him is entire collection of boxes fixed and needing repair.

Is he still selling that down? Or is he a bonafide collector like most of us?

It doesnt really matter to me, I mean I got my money out of it by someone who used it as a prop and didnt want a working box anyway.

Id be willing to walk the plank with this seller again for the right box at the right price.

Is this the box though?

redbenjoe - 2008-06-10 20:10

jeff - or anyone --i bought 2 boxes from him this past 1/2 year -- and both were no better or worse than 'as described' -- and they both ended up very cheap after a 7 day auction --so they were sort of good deals.

dont forget -- this one is the famous GF9696 for only $102 (now)--so - YES - it might end up to be a worthy gamble.

---my 2 cents
