jlf - 2008-01-28 16:37

I found a N.I.B. Boombox buried on ebay just now.

Its auction # 370011838280

Id post a link, but everytime I do it seems to give access to my info... I guess I dont know how to sign out right! Smile

Anyway, not really sure what brand it is... I quickly read through the auction.

Has 8 Track as well as Cassette.

Just an FYI.

I know some here are mad for N.I.B.!

High price though!

Ima is a model name of the Craig stereo company if I am correct. This auction is a clear example of why I don't usually care for getting old boxed items.I could have a close to new boombox without a box that would put out a lot more sound than that little thing.Sure it's brand new but your paying an awful lot for a box and packing material. It will just end up in the top of the closet when you display and use the item inside. In many cases its just not worth what people ask.Of course, this is just my opinion. What something is worth can be a personal matter also.

Amazing that its gone already?!

I agree.... a lot for a box and packaging.

I really like the 'time capsule' idea... a real survivor.

Too bad it wasnt a better box. Smile

I used to love the smell of a new boombox, opening the box and bam the new smell of new plastic, styro and then the moment of truth put in some batteries and drop a good tape. Dammmm I missed that if only we could turn back time.

OK, go ahead and scoff if you will. But I guarantee you'll all be on your knees begging me to sell this gem to you before the week is out. But I won't do it! Not even for twice what I paid for it. (Well, maybe for twice... but no less.)

I bought it for $375.00 because I felt I could skip grocery shopping for a month, I'm able laugh in the face of outstanding credit card debt ("Hah!"), and the electric company will be happy to give me an extension on my December bill. (I hope.)

Besides, I like unusual boomboxes (both big and small). I like (the same way ford93 does) unwrapping, smelling and touching new/old boxes with all the packaging and styrofoam inside. I like how this one has separate bass and treble controls, so the sound should be decent (no, it won't be a GF-777, but it won't be a QT-50, either). Ima is a fun name (I'll be able to tell my wife, "Ima gonna play my new boombox now"). And, hey, it plays 8-tracks! (Yes, I own a boatload of 8-tracks.)

I promise I'll let all of you doubters, skeptics and naysayers know if I like my new Ima boombox once it arrives. If I don't, I'll never mention this purchase again, and I'll deny it ever took place!

So there. Wink
