redbenjoe - 2008-01-28 21:08

i might go for it -- unless anybody here really will --please let me know --
its not a big deal to me --but might just be a cute little pick-up !

thafuzz - 2008-01-28 21:16

I'm watching it too Ira, but I expect it to go for more than I'm willing to.

vladi123456 - 2008-01-28 21:37

"cute little pickup"........i couldn't have said that better myself Big Grin

monolithic - 2008-01-28 22:12

Ain't nothin' "cute" about that box! Looks like serious business to me!

ash25 - 2008-01-29 03:01

Whats the guess on how much this will go for? I may go for it too. But I want the National Panasonic 7000 also. I figure 800.00.

- 2008-01-29 10:02

a link would be good Big Grin

panasonic.fan - 2008-01-29 10:10

It's not a boombox.

And, RBJ, you need to spend your money on more worthwhile causes like buying Tim a good digital camera, and the security detail so it doesn't get
stolen.

'Yes' and 'no' does not a discussion make. Wink

Me - It is a portable, battery operated cassette and radio player with speakers either side and an aerial... shall I go on?

You -

redbenjoe - 2008-01-29 11:57

beatbox --i tend somwhat to agree with panfan -- because my own wonderful souding RX6400 is always in storage somewhere -- but if it were more 'like' a boombox -- it would be here at home with my other box collection -- so, to me, its a whole 'nother animal' -
but you sure are correct in that it does have all the 'required' boombox features --

and for sound and power quality -- its drowns all the rest --

No way to attach the speakers, by design.
Not designed as a boombox.
Not built as a boombox.
Not marketed as a boombox.

Any questions?

redbenjoe - 2008-01-29 15:52

panfan or beatbox or anybody ---

do you happen to know if the A5 is a SOUND QUALITY upgrade to the A2 ?

or are the about the same sound with the different speakers configurations ? --

asking because the is an A5 up on ebay right now -
thank you

and to some -- the sound may be much more important than whether we conclude that it is a boombox or not

redbenjoe - 2008-01-30 08:31

just a gentle bump -

asking if the A5 is a material sound quality upgrade over the RX6400 --
thanks

panasonic.fan - 2008-01-30 09:02

I never really cranked an A5 up (only played with one in the store). It had nice sound, and seems to be more than capable of making alot of noise.

The RX-6400/A2 goes plenty loud, and has, in my opinion, better speakers. The A5's speakers are more like having four upper mid bass speakers in each cabinet, whereas the A2 has a better woofer.

My opinion is A2 better overall sound, A5 louder (maybe). I can get the A2 to thump pretty good, without distorting, and without having to turn it all the way up. Sufficient highs, could be better, but pretty good.

Perhaps, if Zimmies is in possession of both at this time, he can comment further.

thank you panfan -- you just now helped alot to save me alot of $$

and to prevent any competition for the ebay A5 thats up in a few days --since i am lucky to have the A2 --i will pass and hope another member gets a fair deal on the A5

thafuzz - 2008-01-30 18:31

So, the A5 and A2's speakers are not designed to connect and carry (in the open position)?

redbenjoe - 2008-01-30 18:59

thafuzz - thats correct --
but if you really wanted to carry it that way --i know you could make a nifty rig for it --

and these sound so awesome -- that i suggest its all well worth the inconvenience --

so hope you win it

panasonic.fan - 2008-02-01 14:25

Not to mention that you'd look like the biggest idiot on your block while carrying it, but depending on who you are you may already hold that title.....

RX-A5 Super Trick Pansonic 38lb Monster Boom Box

Panasonic RX-A5
as Rare as they come

What we've got here is one heavy super bad genuine Vintage piece of history. We all know that the Panasonic Boomboxes
were the king sheezy back in the day. I've seen several end at well over $1200 right here on eBay. This is unique as this unit
is it's own carrying case. The speakers attach front and back to the main unit and lock the boombox shut. It's trick and I've never
seen one even put on the block here.

This may very well be an Import Only item. Anyhow you want the skinny I'm sure. First of all it works, it sounds great. No blown
speakers no issues. Well, one issue and it's very minor. The light for the radio dial doesn't seem to work other than that no problems.
The antenna is still in perfect shape even! It pulls up from it's resting place on top.

Takes 10 D size Batteries. I wouldn't advise going that route unless you've got a lot of money to burn so the original power cord
will be included. Speakers can be placed as near or far as you like, depending on how much speaker wire you've got.

Beastly 38lb Monster will ship via USPS Priority Mail Insured to Confirmed Addy Only! No International unless you are one
spectacular buyer who can prove you aren't a scam artist.

well -i think its good this was won by a member --
but -- the above post was made with only 13 minutes to go in this auction --
which seems to be very bad timing for any member who was about to get a good deal

so nothing personal -- but i suggest that we all refrain from posting about any ebay items during the last day or two of an auction

anybody disagree ?

- 2008-02-01 20:22

Well I thinks that it would be nice for those that start this kind of advertisement for somthing that ( one ) has to to spend time and energy " Clicking and typing " to try to find all of this Brou Ha Ha Ha over what We Dont Really Know what this is to begin with SHOULD PROVIDE THE LINK IN THE BEGINNING !!!!!!!!

as I stated in my first comment in this thread as i AGREED With I think,,, Rimmer ...

So I posted what I could could find of this and all I could find was the Last 13 Second's of this Blooming Epay thingy ... Sheesh thanks for ????

kid.sensation - 2008-02-02 00:56

i think that link was posted, but in another thread.

can't remember who posted it tough.

still an impressive looker..congrats to miguel.

baby.boomer - 2008-02-02 02:29

$666.66 with 13 minutes to go?? I'm not exactly a believer in unlucky numbers, but...

The good news is miguel wasn't outbid, so posting a last-minute link here didn't change the outcome. All's well that ends well! Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-02-02 04:40

hey DM4U --i really meant no offense -

and of course you were replying to rimmer from days ago

but the post was made with 12 minutes to go--

which IMHO - can become a bad deal for our members who are already bidding on it

so , hope you know what i mean

ghettoblaster68 - 2008-02-02 11:58

i need one of those!

badly Nod Yes Big Grin

cheers

thafuzz - 2008-02-02 13:44

I would've bid $800 but was working. Missed out Frown

jvc.floyd - 2008-02-02 14:39

i think that unit would fit the role of a house stereo that resembles a huge mean lookin boombox .you would probably get robbed if you carried that down the steet these days .it would be great for out door get togethers and parties or at a skate park where you need maximum volume.

l.lopez - 2008-02-03 22:36

Smilehey fellas; Thanks for the comments, As soon as it arrives, I'll post some pics next to another big boomer like the Conion C100F, And the JC-2000 for comparisom of size.

redbenjoe - 2008-02-04 00:47

the pictures -- plus your 'how it sounds' opinion would be welcome --

and i think i can 'dig up' a good extra RX6400 (A2) to sell here --especially if you report and agree about how good these are

$600+ on any radio, boombox or not, is never a good deal.

Congrats though dude, I was in it up into the 400 range, and had brief delusions that my bid would hold up after the limp noodle withdrew his bid.

xmetalmarkx - 2008-02-04 14:10

If that doesn't qualify as a brutal portable, I'd say nothing does.

Not my call, of course, but it would be truly genius if you come up with a well-executed mod to mount the speakers for actual carry down the street.

Completely bad-a$z!!

l.lopez - 2008-02-07 23:54

Smile Well it arrived, Double boxed, And with plenty of bubble wrap, But when I turned it on, I found that the Sub woofers were not working, And the sound was not rich, Also the second tape deck is not working at all, I can't even open the cassette door, I mention it to the seller, And he replied he couldn't beleave, But that he would work something out, I'll keep ya all posted, And if there is a place where I can find these woofers. Thanks fellas! Smile

panasonic.fan - 2008-02-12 05:49

So basically, he ripped you off.

panasonic.fan - 2008-02-15 21:52

He owes you about $200 back, minimum.

thafuzz - 2008-02-15 22:54

I'm really sorry to hear that LL. I hope you get it worked out bro. I'm glad I was too busy to bid that night.

Hey there,

I see you are having some problems with this box... I own one in really good shape and working order... but they are a little quirky...
If you have any questions I'd be glad to help you out...
