got a rx-dt680 dont need another one & dont really like this model as it's a three-piece and rather bland at that I prefer the Lasonic LPC-85 Gold edition as my preferred Thre-piece - Now if you could find another one of those....

i'm totally oposite to you james,i love the DT680,its a quality box,i think it was last of the propper boombox before everything turned eggshape,i cant understand why people dislike 3 piecers soo much,

one piece = has handle = takes battery's = boombox....

3 piece = has handle = takes battery's = boombox....just because they have detatchable speaker does'nt mean they'r not a boombox,i can understand the difference between a classic style and egg, that is a big difference, but just because they have detachable speakers..so what ??

a few members have said how good they sound so they must be ok ,  i like 3 piece boxes as well its up to the individual sometimes beanie man people just knock things for the sake of it.

Different strokes for different folks. Just wanted to make a page for those who are looking for one. I got mines a month ago and I must say... sounds better than the Fisher PHW805 or even the RX-CT950 I had...

Its good that you put the links up woodzy :-) i love this box and i love all 3 piece boxes,my first propper box in the early 80s was a 3 piece sharp, and it sounded great,i loved it..i have both 3 piece and one piece boxes and i love them all the same..i dont put any over the other..although i think 3 piece boxes sound better than one piece..so i suppose i'm biased to like the 3 piece more, ohh i dunno,i like both and thats my final decision lol..

@Beanie Man, I'm with you, bro! But i respect all boomboxers cause we all represent an era long gone...

where is oldschool69 and SUCCESS? I had some RX-DT680 questions for them but it appears they haven't logged in for months.... looking for some Panasonic experts...

the good 1 peice kill any 3 peice in sound imho...there arnt many but a few that sound way better than 99% of 3 peice...the dt680 is an exeption...it sounds better than most boxes....it's just not ultra loud...but it's a great box

many years ago --i asked a local musician if he wanted to sell his old m90 beater ?

he said --only if he could find a box that was newer and sounded better --

i brought over a mint 680 --with just a few hours use on it -

told him he could keep it to try it out for a week and to compare its

output to his m90-

he was not a box collector -

had no interest in rare or vintage classics -

he just cared about the sound quality

a few hours later -

he told me to come back and take his m90--

----------------------

to me --the m90 is so big & expansive sounding -

its MUCH better than the 680

very subjective decision !

It's just so much more satisfuying having a good 1 peice...i can't explaine it.....aswell as having better sound.....the good thing is we can choose the boxes we want, etc to our needs and pocket.....i couldn't live without my m90, crown 970 880 or gf1000... we are just so lucky we got in there before the price explosion.....i mean $2000 for an m70 was unheard of many moons ago
