TRK W55H HITACHI BOOMBOX

breakbeatfanatik - 2013-05-07 12:14

I just found an old Hitachi TRK W55H at a swap meet for 5 bucks. I tried it out and the radio works fine but the tape does not turn. I opened it up and noticed that the belts for both cassette decks were ripped. The volume is a bit off as well and gives feedback when i mess with it. Anyone know how to fix or where i can get it fixed? I am in Southern California. Peace!

If you can open it up you can fix it

Spray on switch cleaner will sort the volume. New belts can be bought from eBay...easy fix

If you search the forum you'll find lots of tips on how to do it.

Oh and welcome!

Oh right on. I am fairly new to this. Now, is upgrading the speakers to somthing louder an option? I have done similar work for car stereos but not boombox

I'm not sure louder because of the limitations of the amp, but better speakers will yield better sound for sure. Just make sure you check the ohm rating
