9 time out of 10 it's normally belts or a blown fusible resistor....just mine the cogs are shot and something else is going on that's strange jason.....

Is the solenoid clicking on power up or when the cassette door is opened?

as far as im aware the solenoid engages play.....unless there are 2 solenoids in there

jason.hall - 2013-05-12 12:49

I'll have to check again when I get home from work but as far as I remember I can't even get the cassette player to open. I'll have to play around with some more see what happens

radio.raheem - 2013-05-12 12:54

Take the back off....spin the main flywheel to the left...your door should open

driptip - 2013-05-12 13:25

No there's only one solenoid Reno, but it should engage during power up or the cassette functions are activated (ie eject...) I'm sure Retrodos or Del could shed more light on this issue, in regards to the flywheel, after rebelting I had to roll the flywheel back before the solenoid re-engaged.

so if my m90 clunks on switch on my solenoid must be ok....strange why my play wont engage....and yet if i push the solenoid manually play engages...with the power off ofcourse

KISS

I like simplicity

I also like to take my tunes with me and when outside you can NOT really hear stereo through your stereo as ( On batteries ) as you just do NOT have enough power or sizeable speakers to throw your sound about.

Now what kind of  sound do you want to hear out of your box ( outside )

next how close are you going to be with your box?

Close? then use your big speaker box

Far away? then you need your High powered small speakered box to be able to throw the tune's...

or

You gonna be walking with your box and carrying it an  playing your music? how Loud? for JUST you to hear?  Or do you wish to pee off whom ever is close to you with your sound's

There are so many considerations to consider when selecting a box to take with you

I like box's that operate with the least amount of buttons an dodads ( just want to put in a cassette and hit play, crank the volume, and not worry about that person over there that cannot turn up the volume in their ipod high enough to overcome the sound's coming from my box     I just don't worry about it - LOL...

there's my ramble for you = p.s. I like having a selection to play from

baddboybill - 2013-05-17 18:58

The solenoid also has fusible resistor that does blow. They get very hot. There are a total of 4 fusible resistors on the M90 deck. I always recommend replacing all of them!!!

jason.hall - 2013-05-18 13:32

Threat advice bill thx

347.tony - 2013-06-08 19:04

So Radio did you ever get this working? I've lost my deck to a shorted grey wire going to the record head,(It did work) the tech say's he cant trace the Issue, he checked all the 4 resistor's. prob has a solid 4hr's cleaning up solder joints and testing part's.

radio.raheem - 2013-06-08 23:10

hi tony....i have done nothing more with mine...it's the first m90 of many that i haven't been able to fix
