I am new to the whole "reel-to-reel" tape craze.....They look cool and I'd like to pick up a few, but I don't know too much about them. What are your favorites? I know there's several metallic colors, but are there any solid colored ones? Like white?

Some have painted them or even added their own adhesive designs onto them.

I was asking the seller - when this auktion was on ebay - because i love the look of these tapes too. He answered "fisher" but no more informations.
I found pictures on google showing some betamax-tapes from a brand caled fisher. I don´t now if it´s the same manufacturer who sold tapedecks back in the 70´s.
But maybe thats a good start to search.

I had this post (that's vanished :-( ..) on how to make reel to reel type cassettes by yourself ... a DIY post.
So it would take approximately 30-45 minutes to make one ..I'll see if I can make a microcassette version on Sunday for you folks to see.

Please repost your instructions if possible DocP! These reel tapes are getting ridiculously pricey, especially considering the actual tape quality on most of them, and I'd certainly enjoy hacking my own together.
