Anyone around NYC in the early 90s remember Zed Music Mix Tapes?

These bootleg mix tapes were popular at flea markets and street fairs.  I bought these from a guy who ran a little booth on Canal Street.  He had a TRC-975 playing behind him and to attract customers he'd pop and lock (just his arms, the booth was small).  I think these tapes were $5 apiece or 3 for $10.

I remember the Fly Mixes mix tapes and the old flea markets on Canal Street. There was also a small shop there that sold imported walman and headphones.

Hey Dwayne, I should have guessed you'd be familiar with them.

I'm listening to them again, the mixes and sound quality aren't so bad...

This really got me going, I remembered a few tapes I had been carrying from house to house over the (30+) years and I FOUND them. I pulled out the old WA-100 and promptly went back in time.

Would that be KISS FM out of Vancouver BC?

Red Alert was on KISS FM NYC,  I have quite a few Mr. Magic tapes recorded on my boxes during the 80's. Those were the days, everyone would have their boxes out blasting the master mixes.

I had so many tapes like these, specifically Mike Allen's show, unfortunately due to many family moves these all got lost along the way. Very sad
