Thanks for revealing the anatomy of the guided tape mechanism.
But I just wonder, is it a good idea? The tape is being rubbed by 4 additional pads, that too on the coated side. Additional wear and tear?
Is it really necessary, other than while being moved around?
The tape is under tension during playback, anyway!

Great find thunder!You actually can see the color difference between Fe and Cr tape!
