Hey Felix, if nobody can help out, ask Freddie for his advice on speaker replacement. He might even have a set he could send to you.

hey felix -- always ignore fatdog !!! Laugh Out Loud

try NOT to replace the woofers -- instead,
find a speaker shop to fix them for you --
look at my avitar --it was made while the woofs were out for repair --
now its all fixed and original and sounds HUGE !! Big Grin

good luck --dont be in a rush

WRONG! If Freddie had never changed the speakers in the Sanyo C9, it never would have become the pitbull that it is now. Your old age is finally catching up with you. Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud Big Grin

I Agree 100% refoaming is the way to go if the woofers still work.

kid.sensation - 2008-09-29 10:17

thanks for the input guys!!

I will try both ways i think.

I'll go ahead and contact freddie and floyd tomorrow Smile

jvc.floyd - 2008-09-29 10:18

kid if you can find woofers that will fit then thats cool then you can repair the originals while you have the new ones to use.

redbenjoe - 2008-09-29 10:21

I Agree with jvc floyd !! Big Grin

and - oh -- as for you - young fatdog ............

we agree that feddies woof mod was the bomb -

jvc.floyd - 2008-09-29 10:29

oh i think that new speakers are great but nothing beats that old skool sound especially if the unit was desinged for a certain woofer the jvc high ceramic woofers are a full range driver and if you use a new speaker that is just a woofer you will lose some definition in the sound it might have more bass but thats it unless there coaxials meaning they have a woofer and a tweeter.

Uh oh! That sounds like a challenge!! Nod Yes

jvc.floyd - 2008-09-29 10:40

kid can you measure the outer diameter of the woofer frame as well as the outer diameter of the cone itself so i can look for new foams ,just keep in mind we use inches instead of centimeters in the usa.

kid.sensation - 2008-09-29 12:07

well bad news on the door-step.

I just had it back together and tried it again on low volume.after some playing around with bass set-up on low i noticed a slight farting-noise from the right speaker too..

when i looked to it i saw the surround falling down too Frown

guess that takes me up for 2 new speakers or 2 new surrounds.

floyd i will measure them tommorrow after i checked everything else.If my financials are dried up i hope it's ok when i come back to you bit later when i have enough money again Smile

on a side-note, since i did not payed that much for the unit im ok with the extra-costs..and damn it sounds even very nice when bass put on "0"!!
I'm glad that both speakers work so that they may only need new surrounds.

jvc.floyd - 2008-09-29 13:17

kid just let me know when youre ready no rush .

oldskool69 - 2008-09-29 18:55

Well, if all the trash talk about my poor Sanyo is over Laugh Out Loud....

Kid, it doesn't sound like your totally dead for the woof. (Dustcaps can be re-attached, but these type are unique in that they are integral to the high frequecy sound of the speakers. Makes it tough to get it right.) I would say get it repaired. The toughest part for the JVC's of this ilk are that the speakers are full range drivers. If it is absolutely lost, let's talk. I might be able to help. Smile

See, Ira?! I told you Freddie would know best! Big Grin

It wuld be ugly. Ira doesn't want any part of it and besides, I hear down in the land of flooding trailer parks they don't take to kindly to abusing seniors like Ira with brutal, powerful, sound and rumblin bass. Laugh Out Loud

'SPLODE !!!!

Good advice, refoaming will keep your pc-5 original and it is not to hard. As for replacements just wondering if you guys have googled full range drivers? Lots of info, have a look at some big buck audiophile systems using full range drivers. Some times less is more I guess.
