I want a JVC

michiel - 2013-07-14 05:06

Because I have got none...

brutus442 - 2013-07-14 06:52

A wallet full of $$ should solve that problem Michiel!

lav.loo - 2013-07-14 07:23

you need to be more specific Michiel, a jvc what exactly

michiel - 2013-07-14 08:37

70 and or 90

lav.loo - 2013-07-14 09:00

I thought so best of luck getting one mate

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Those are two of the biggest hitters out there. Keep your eye out though...you never know!

lav.loo - 2013-07-14 10:33

I have 2 boxes on my wish list at the mo, surprisingly an m70 and Aiwa tpr990.

I don't have the cash yet but things may change in the future hopefully oh and another d8614 as I would love 2 of my fave box so that's 3.

plop - 2013-07-14 10:47

Get a kaboom DP200, much more fun and cheaper than the M70 or M90.

You just need to get over the unconventional design.

michiel - 2013-07-14 10:50

I'm starting the third row of my wall of sound and I want to kick off with a really good box  Yeah, I know they are costly... This isn't a cheap hobby anyway...

Lav, yesterday I got my third D8614! The dark grey one with black handle and black back. Even the VU window is still a little clear  Got it with fully working cassette, until it died today after playing 3 tapes lol... Everytime I start one of the 8614's up, I'm amazed how good it sounds!

There must better and more fun radios indeed, maybe I got them already  But I really want one for the looks.. What a snob huh..

Indeed there probably are, but unfortunately I don't have the space or money to buy them to find out.

Admittedly there is more coolness factor with the M70/90, than with the DP200. But it is because everyone else is chasing the M70/90 that the DP200 wins out on price easily by a factor of 10.

The DP200 is no slouch by any measure, it's just a different breed of JVC

michiel - 2013-07-14 11:05

Correction, I already have a JVC!  A mono brick with TV called 3060EU. But that is far from the real thing...

From all the kabooms the dp200 is the most wicked looking one for sure. Sadly I hardly see them comming up on the local auction sites over here. I did a bid on a RV-B550 this morning. No idea if this is a good box or if it has a cassette player, but for 30 euros its okay to try one I guess.... It has a remote and strap. Looks like a nice outdoor box...

i keep quit as possible about getting new 8614's... don't wanna go into history as Lav the 2nd and the d8614 promotion team lol... BUT they are great radios!

lav.loo - 2013-07-14 12:15

ha ha lol

michiel - 2013-07-14 13:25

Got a deal for a nice 70

Of all the kabooms only the DP100 and DP200 have user controllable Bass and Treble functions. The B550 is a smaller less powerful kaboom to the DP200.

michiel - 2013-07-14 13:51

Better I skip the B550 then and go for a DP100 or 200 if one comes by as I really dont have enough space for a lot of kaboom shaped boxes just for finding out the nicest one... Thanks for the tip plop!

I'll keep you guys informed about new radios. Will upload a new find from this week tomorrow... can't up pics from my iPad so gonna use my work pc...

lav.loo - 2013-07-14 14:10

look forward to em

radio.raheem - 2013-07-14 15:14

Although the dp200 may not look as good it murders an m90 for sound...just my humble opinion and they can go for next to nothing..... im lucky i have 2 one boxed

andyboombox - 2013-07-15 02:53

a word from the wise Michiel, youll need tonnes of cash for the m70 and m90,mine combined in value set me back £700,but they were minters-sadly as most members know though they are long gone now,and i wish i could turn back time and have them back,so once you get them....BLOODY KEEP THEM!!!!

northerner - 2013-07-15 03:17

Well I've got an M70 and it didn't cost me a fortune   I've also got the Aiwa TPR990 on Az's wish list and that didn't cost me a fortune either   I've accepted that I'll never own an M90 though as I can't afford one, all my boxes have to be bargains, its the only way I'll buy them and I can't ever see a bargain M90 coming up

I'd take a Kaboom just for its sound if I found one cheap locally but they're damn ugly imo

top advice there from mr tandy...got management potential there mate...giving the advice most managers do ie 'do as I say not as I do' lol

andyboombox - 2013-07-15 03:23

never a truer word said si bro-hope to be going on a landscape gardening course on thursday and friday this week to earn my city and guilds so i may never make it back to the board room ever again

oh and michiel my only jvc is my 9475 that i got off del,and thats going no where buddy

northerner - 2013-07-15 03:30

landscape gardening?...nice...I'd like a job in gardening, had a massive garden in the old house that took me 8 years to save from the previous owners 15 years of abandonment...loved it.  Can only name about 3 plants tho so I'm the original clueless gardener lol

So who will Lord Sugar turn to now if your abandoning the board room?

michiel - 2013-07-15 05:02

Wise words Andy! Normally I haven't got any wishes for a particular box. So most of my boomers were not expensive and cheap lucky finds. Things are getting costly if you really want a particular box and are inpatient. You see that on eBay all the time... I want this box, so I know its gonna cost me Think I'll keep it for a long time....

soundboy - 2013-07-21 07:08

good luck michiel, hope you find  the m70 and m90, and i agree that these b-boxes once obtained ,they need to be kept, due to the fact even a high selling figure like $1200 for a m90 is outstanding ! yet, these item's are difficult to find and in my opinion they could serve me well for years to come !! money will come and go... but a true affection i dread losing

Followed your advice plop! Got myself a cheapo DP100! The bass of this beast is awesome!  The cassette is in need of repair (it only clicks 5 times when I power up the kaboom), it has dents in the speaker grills and there is no remote, but even then it rocks!

walkgirl - 2013-08-14 12:19

I have a jvc

rcs5 or something like that, do not know the name

michiel - 2013-08-16 10:40

Nice! Do you have a pic of it? Is it a micro cassette?

walkgirl - 2013-08-17 03:58

michiel - 2013-08-17 07:05

Nice mini jvc boombox!  Love the M4440 to! Very nice walkman, got one too  Is it your nib one?

walkgirl - 2013-08-17 07:25

No that is the one I can use!, the new in box is still new in box

michiel - 2013-08-17 07:35

Smart! I sold my nib and got a used one for 1/10th of the price  Only problem is that it doesn't auto shut off every time, so I can't use it to fall asleep. They sound great those 4440 and it can use the d6c power adapter!
