Panasonic RQ-S95

minty - 2009-12-21 03:00

Greetings all. And a happy Christmas. I've just purchased a panasonic RQ-S95 cassette player. Has anyone ever seen one of these things? Looks pretty cool. It has a wireless remote which i have never seen before on a portable cassette player. I bought it in china, and the person who purchased it for me says it looks like its never been used or even been taken from its box. So here is the thing. I paid 100 euro including postage for it, which is about 140 Dollars. It was a kind of impulse buy. I seen the wireless remote and had to have it. Did i pay over the odd's for it? Regards.

Hello there!

Well it depends. 140Euros is a lot of money for a Panasonic, but of it is as new and is wireless, I think it's worth it. I hope it has a 12 laminated core head like the S80. It is no doubt a high-end walkman and a very rare one. I have never seen it so please post some nice pics when you do get itSmile

PS I also bought a few things on impulse but if I had that kind of money right now, I'd probably get it too.

minty - 2009-12-22 03:54

Yes indeed. I will upload pictures of my little collection in the new year. The RQ-S80 is the one i'm really after. Very hard to get one in good condition though. Also i am searching for an Aiwa HS-JX3000. I will get both items soon i hope. I have a liking for Aiwa jx models. In my opinion they were the best Aiwa ever made. Cheers!

tuna - 2009-12-23 03:57

Yeah, Aiwas were great. I have a PX303 and PX505 models - truly high-end models before the PX series was downgraded. Dolby c. amorphous heads... trul wonderful. I am looking forward to your pics!

Hello all. I am still waiting for my RQ-S95 to be delivered. Post from China is very slow. As soon as i receive it i will post pics. Cheers!

Can't wait!

minty - 2010-01-11 05:14

I've also purchased a mint boxed RQ-S60. I was really looking for a RQ-S80, but this is the next best thing. I'll post pics of this also. Cheers.

I am really looking forward to the pics!

It's almost Tuesday--did you get it yet??
Usually when I am waiting for something important and I leave the house, the postman will always pick that very time to stop by and leave a note on my door to pick up at central post office. Even if I leave a signed note on the door they won't set it on the porch for me. Worst part is I have to WAIT until the next day to go because the postman is riding around with my package until he is done for the day!
I would suggest leaving the house or you will never get it.
Good Luck,

minty - 2010-01-11 23:24

Postmen eh? Actually, my postman aint to bad. But i have got those dreaded (you missed the postman) letters. Anyway, no sign of the parcel yet. Have you ever purchased anything from China? Slow is the only way to describe it. An average of 6 weeks delivery time. Soon as i get it the pics will go up. Has anyone seen the aiwa HS-JX3000 on ebay Germany? Okay, so i bid 50 euro for it, (thats all its worth). Within half an hour its gone up to 106 euro, And still nearly 7 days to go. I reckon it will go for close to 250. For a start its (another) non runner. No box. Missing its original headphones, which are very hard to get. I can't understand how anyone can spend so much money on a player that does not work. Hell, maybe its just me. Cheers all.

Hello folks. Just got home from work to find my RQ-S95 has arrived. I can tell you now, this thing is really cool. I have never seen anything like it to be honest. Very trick piece of kit. I will upload pictures tomorrow. I have never uploaded pictures before, so i hope it goes smoothly. I look forward to getting your views on my new toy.
Regards. Derek.

Derek many of us have discussed the crazy high prices paid for the late model gold Aiwas even not working... they are notorious for breaking down and from what I hear very hard to work on /repair. I would not pay ever such price for non working model.

Hello folks. Here are my pictures. They are far from perfect, but it is my first time uploading pictures. The pictures are a bit to big. Anyway, here it is. The head appears to be a standard head. You will notice the way the lid slides down over the buttons when its opened, pretty cool. The wireless remote also docks on the back of the player. When docked the player goes into auto stanby. Also, the remote can be used from a very far distance away. As you can see from the pictures it has never been used. I have never seen anything like it. Very cool indeed. And sounds awesome. Cheers!

tuna - 2010-01-13 09:00

Wow! Very very nice! So it is basically an S75 with a wireless remote control! That is very cool. I want one!

minty - 2010-01-13 09:10

Yes. The control is cool. It is really slim. It controls all the functions, including eq settings. When it is clipped to the back there is a sensor which puts the player in standby. It just makes the player different from anything i have seen before.

tuna - 2010-01-13 09:17

Yeah I can imagine. My SX75 is unique in the way it is so minimalistic and automated and a incredibly fast access time (45x) but this seems even cooler! If it had a head of the S80, it eould be the best Panasonic ever!
