Collection 14 Rare Walkmans Ebay Germany Lucky Buyer

johnedward - 2009-09-27 11:40

The German Ebay auction COLLECTION 14 players
Ebay Collection ,
has 8 VERY VALUABLE UNITS most all 14 are functioning some with orig. headphones. IT is only $42 USD or $28 Euro for EACH player at $590 USD sell price. Separately sold the players my guess value at todays upscale selling prices would be $1200 to $ 1,600 USD ( from $60 to $200 value per item on ebay ). My experience is as a seller never sell a "collection" or many Walkmans in one auction. Sold one player per auction you get a lot more money due to in a collection of many only one or two really interest most buyers OR idea of paying $400 to $700 one time sale scares away many buyers.) It is my experience watching past year that often not always if the collection of models as in this case most are very collectible good to excellent condition with most working you can get a real bargain!. With 7-9 models very worth keeping could sell off remaining 5-7 in separate auctions and probably get back 50%-70% of original purchase price so real price paid for many excellent collectable models only $200-$300 now that's a DEAL !!!

Sony Walkman TPS-L2, the first ever in working with leather carrying case and headset ()

Sony WM-10 one of the finest instruments in general, device is smaller than a cassette, and must be pulled apart for operation (functional headphones must be plugged in!)

Sony WM-F10 as the above model only works with radio (radio, cassette can not strangely, strangely because he finally still fct.)

Sony WM-20 PINK RARE is like World Cup 10 only this is a later model (functional) - with rare original belt clip

Sony WM-30 and WM 10 and WM-20 with original leather case (functional) - (the WM-10-30 series are getting rare)

Sony WM-DD III RED/PINK top condition with headphones and user manual (operational)

Sony WM-D6C fantastic recorder with Dolby B and C intake, comes with case, shoulder strap (functional)

Sony WM-EX90 one of the best electronic devices (functional)

Sanyo JJ-P4 RED, rarely, a fantastically beautiful device and ultra flat, with Auto Reverse (which, however, depends in some way, otherwise functional)

Toshiba KT-V500 with Tuner Pack RP-AF5, ultra-advanced, lower than the tape - which protrudes above (radio works, belts must be replaced)

Toshiba KT-AS1 with Tuner Pack RP-AF2, with belt clip and ext. Battery compartment (radio works, belts must be replaced - leiert)

JVC CX-5 RED, extremely rare, with leather case, excellent condition (functional) with manual, warranty card and original bill of 1987 on DM 199.95

AIWA HS-J202, recorder, then one point with the recording device, PLL Tuner, leather case, however, has strong traces of use (radio and cassette functional)

AIWA HS-F505, recorder, then one is also top model, with leather case and clip-on speakers (funtionstüchtig)

johnedward - 2009-09-27 11:47

seller states 9 functioning, 3 not functioning Tosh's need belts radio works, and 2 partial functioning. Realizing we do not know how well functioning the 9 units are ( most valuable ones ) but considering the quality and knowledge of collectors choice of players safely figure this man when says functioning they are good functioning units. Guess I will find out soon enough.

I will be selling some of these units as they are doubles of what I have. Will determine which ones to keep or sell off one of these or one I have currently when they arrive and condition and function are thoroughly checked out. Most likely will post them as Ebay auction but may agree to sell to members depending on value offered. PM me on this. NOTE : it will be 4-6 weeks before items will be posted in for sale/auction topic. Really tops off my collection now of 230 walkmans mostly old prior to 84 and after 89. Now have both the JVC CX-F5K in Black working and CX-5 in delicious RED. My early Christmas gift Big Grin Smile

I'm amazed at your knowledge of the walkmans.

I'd been watching that auction all week...outbid at last moment

johnedward - 2009-09-28 22:38

Hi ya Roly its always unfortunate when two members end up bidding against each other. I did not know you were a bidder. I actually had put in a Bid of $555 Euro much higher than the $402 win bid. There were several very expensive models I do not have that I knew buying separately would have cost me $150-$200 so this whole stash seemed a real value to sell of few and get best rare ones at 1/4 or what would have paid bought separately. Interesting if you had not bid the collection would have sold for $244 Euro. Seems often that walkmans go up on ebay in groups of 2 or 3 in a few week period then wont see model for many months.. always found odd so if luck has it another "Stash " with great models will appear in next few weeks I hope you win. No more large collections as $600 USD is a big chunk of change for me.
Regards John

Don't ignore the tiny Sanyo JJ, this is officially the smallest walkman made.

elite1502323 - 2009-09-29 07:01

Hey Cris,
Is the Sanyo JJ smaller than the Sony Walkman 20th Anniversary EX-20? John, if you have dial calipers could you provide overall dimensions of your Sanyo JJ? And then we could have someone measure their EX-20 for exact comparison.

johnedward - 2009-09-29 08:42

Hi Elite/ AO, I have dial calipers from Jewelry store owned in 80's. Have to find and will measure I have a Sanyo JJ-F4 White in box.

AO is the JJ-P4 Red I purchased same dimensions as F4 ? If not will be 2-3 weeks before I have walkmans to measure from Germany.

I agree with you AO that probably the JJ is smallest I have a WM-150 and many of the newer small units other mfg. Once I get measurements accurate maybe if there are any other models I should measure let me know. Following is my list of models owned. Many other much more informed members let me know which ones I should measure.

Hi John, what does the above mean from your list? Also, thanks in advance for measuring the Sanyo.

I posted the list so AO or You may tell me which walkmans I have that I should measure for smallest walkman. So many are in SMALL range figured help you all know better than me generally the best contenders for smallest then what ones I have will measure with micrometer.

elite1502323 - 2009-10-01 09:26

So what is up with the Sony PS-F9? Did you ever receive it?

johnedward - 2009-10-03 13:06

Hi Elite, have sadly found of the areas of world to buy from that my transactions from France have had the most problems I totally lost the money thankfully only spent $110 USD as I remember.
Lady said shipped to my German address but never got there and the tracking number she gave the french post says not exist... she wont provide actual copy of receipt. Since she was slow every time to respond time dragged on by when I contacted ebay they not help out. Personally think she kept it and resold it.. no way to probe.. sucks as that is a true collectable and it was the rare one with FM transmitter so could wear a walkman tuned to station around home and listen portable to records .. very kewl idea.

elite1502323 - 2009-10-04 09:26

Darn John, sorry to hear about that unfortunate experience. I didn't mean to stir up bad memories. Anyway, it's interesting to learn that Sony made a PS-F9 with FM transmitter.

fudigimuse - 2009-10-19 18:46

I have both the Sony EX-20 and Sanyo JJ-P4 and the JJ beats the 20 significantly in all dimentions except thickness where it is only a few millimeters shy of the 20. I don't have calipers so unfortunately I can't give exact measurements.

+1 for "Smallest Walkman Ever" thread!!
