Hello All, I haven't posted much but i have been admiring all the nice collections you people have. most of my collection are walkmans from thrift stores that i pay 3 or 4 bucks for and usually they are used and abused. however on occasion some nice ones show up like yesterday I picked up a panasonic SL-CT700 CD player for $4 bucks and it had the remote and original headphones. Unfortunately it didn't have the rechargeable batteries it uses. I tested it with a plug in adapter that I had and it works great! Nice sound and pretty thin and light.http://tinypic.com/r/24c5ws5/4

Hi Mikey!

I have had a panasonic SL-CT800 which was top of the line and one step above this 700 of yours. They are very good cd players and to my ears sound better than any of the latest Sony models. Unfortunately, they are not made to last and they are very fragile though the dimensions are very small and the units are featherweight. I have an SL-CT730 now which is the last one Panasonic ever made. In terms of dimensions, it is much thinner than the CT700 and is built more solidly - especially the tope cover mechanism. Unfortunately, it has no illuminated keys which is so cool imo and the sound is actually worse! It sounds better when you play back mp3 but cd audio sounds very compressed and very grainy - courtesy of digital amplifier and component integration. they managed to put an lsi processor, dac and amplifier into one single chip and that is why it was two times cheaper than tje CT800. IMO, the 700/800 series was the last good Panasonic cd player. Keep it and love itSmile

BTW, the SL-CT730 is in mint condition, used about 20 hours in total. No scratches and no dents. has all the stuff that came with it, manual and original box. If anyone is interested, we could trade.

Cheers Mikey! I am interested as to what you can buy for 3-4 bucks but i bet there are some gems there in your collection!

a few months ago i got an iriver slim X from ebay for 28.00 delivered. it had everything but the plug in electric module which would have been nice. it is complicated but the more i learn about it the better i like it. much better than the sony's 915 & 925. does anybody have these models and how do you like them ?
