Smile
yea i got it this morning,i saw it in a box with lots of junk,i picked it up and saw the nice play/rew/ff/stop buttons,i just liked it and i could'nt bare to leave it there so it had to home with me..problem was the belt had gone so i just changed it,and now when i play a tape i'm getting a slight wobble in the sound, any idea's ??

Yeah, pretty standard issue. You should go in with a cotton bud and some alcohol and clean all surfaces which rub against others, you know what I mean like drive wheels and pulleys.

Well, I'm selling some if you want more of the ******s.

Yeah, WM-2 has a lot of moving wheels and stuff, they collect grease after 30 years, as would you.

Hello,
How good is the sound?? I have just gotten a Cybernet PS-101, which is a Japan Made clone of the Original Sony Walkman, the first one. It has all the same buttons, Talkline and all. Its built very well, but high frequencies sound kind of muffled. I didn't know if its just cause it was an early model?? What can be done, to open them up?? I cleaned the heads, I just didn't demagnetize....dont know if that is important with a walkman that doesn't record?? Any ideas?? Otherwise it functions great. Thanks, Ray

Ray, before you open the Cybernet, do the following:

1. Clean heads with a Q-Tip soaked with alcohol/spirit-based liquid (I actually use meths)
2. If the above doesn't help then adjust azymuth with a suitably sized screwdriver, there should be at least one screw (sometims 2) one or each side of the playback head, this adjusts the angle of the head. Adjust while playing and listen for the best sound, when happy, stop turning.

If either of the above don't help then you have some more deep rooted issue

Hello AO,
I used a small philips driver, probably could use a smaller one still...but noticed some change in sound after turning. But the driver is pressing on the cassette tape when playing. So, I really need a smaller one to do it properly.

However, if the screws on each side of my head on cybernet, are loose, is this ok?? Or should they be snug?? I did get some rise in High Frequency, but had to remove and reinstall the tape...due to driver. It sounds much better, but sure I could do better when turning screw while playing. Ray

in all honesty,, i have a black, metal, wm-5 which looks almost the same as the wm-2. the wm-5 will play circles around the other. i am not sure why this is the case though. i think the metal body is part of it. also i think it is a dd drive but i am not sure.
