I am bidding for Item 370433163002 the Boodo Khan headphones for $300.00. Yesterday I was outbidded by user "2****K". He has bidded for $500.00 and then he cancelled the bid. He then came back and bidded it again for $285.00 ????? At this point he already knew how much I bidded for the item. And today the user "a****a" has bidded for $310.00 so I was outbidded again and he cancelled the bid. He came back and bidded for $300.00 which is tied with me. It is very obvious that these two bidders knew how much I am bidding for the item and they just try to win the bid by the last second before the bid ended. I already contacted the seller and eBay about this but afraid that it will too late because the item will end in 11 hrs. I don't anybody here have come across the same situation before and what should I do for this.
Thanks

They way I bid on eBay is when I see anything I want, I make up my mind how much I am willing to pay for it. So let’s say I wanted to pay a maximum of $400 for these headphones, I would wait till about 10 – 15 seconds to go then make my bid. If I get is correct and I’m the highest bidder, it does not give other people much time to come back at me.

Whenever I bid on anything I only ever bid once since I don’t like getting in this I bid and someone else bids and force me up.

My advice is if you really want this headphone, make up your mind how much you are willing to pay for it and stick to that.

Once you have made up your mind prep the bid with your maximum bid with about 30 – 40 seconds before, don’t forget when you place a bid you have to confirm before the bid goes through.

Once you get to the point of confirming wait till about 10 seconds to go then confirm your bid, good luck hope you get it.

Yeah, I agree with you with this method. But the other two bidders played dirty on me. They bidded with the high price and cancelled their bid and bidded again just less than me. I know they will wait until the last second and bid for $301.00 so that they will win the item. Is this cheating or what ????? Mad
Thanks for your advise.

All a bidder has to do is make minimum bids until they pass your bid. Then they know your highest bid and they now have the high bid--and it could be even higher than just the minumum. Maybe there is more to this...
You can always subscribe to a snipe service too(cant believe I just recommended that).
That's what bidding is all about. Yes, there can sometimes be dishonesty before, during and after an auction.
Sounds like they want it more and will pay more than you so they will win.
On the other hand, you could find out how much more they want it if you increase your maximum bid to, let's say, $401. If they don't bid as high as you --you win for whatever they drop out at. Maybe they will bid over 401? In that case you lose, seller wins and your competitor pays too much.

Yes the are playing dirty, that’s way I never show my interest in anything till the end this way you don’t get into a fight with other people.

If I really want something I just make up my mined how mush I’m willing to pay then just put on my watch list.
This way no one knows I’m interested.

Say in the case of the second bidder he / she had bidded $150, they think they have since say I did not show my hand and I know I am willing to pay $400.
Since i did not show my hand they don’t know anyone else is interested so have no need to up their bid.
So in the dieing seconds I did my $400 and get it for $250 even though I was willing to pay $400 good win for me. He / she cannot come back in as i have not given them a chance.

So what I’m saying is do go back and bid $302 the chances are you will loose, go at the end bid say $450 and you have a chance to get it as those guys are only thinking in bidding in the just over the $300 range. you will more then likely get it for less then the $450 and you are not giving them chance to come back at you.

That reminds me of the early days of our Mr Mediterrano71. They always try to artificially raise the price for you which makes you nervous and it always ends up in more waiting until you pay a ridiculous amount of money for the item. Tested method I must say but don't fall for that trick. Even if you didn't get the item, let the fact that the idiot seller didn't get his money be your satisfaction.

toocool4 - 2010-09-23 03:58

Yes this looks like the seller has forced the price up, Moonraker I would personally say don’t pay for this headphone.
I know you risk getting a negative feedback for not paying, but it looks this seller is pulling a fast one.

Yeah, this is a classic case of shill bidding. Basically both these bidders are aliases of the seller. He uses these aliases to sniff out the high bid, one will come in at a high bid which then makes the genuine high bid (you) visible to him he then comes in with his 2nd alias and bids just under your high bid to ensure that the maximum amount is achieved i.e. just under your maximum bid.

If I were you I'd not play games with these rogues & pull out.

Sellers can no longer give negative feedback to buyers as far as I know. The ebay service support told me that on my last encounter with a bad seller.

wombat - 2010-09-23 17:38

Oh, I get it now! Thanks AO. The shill#1 probes for the high bid and shill#2 bids it up to their max. yea, thats insider dirty work--nothing to do with bidding.

vagabondsteve - 2010-09-23 19:57

Well, it went for $300. Hope that was you! I tend to either bid right at the final moments (from my watch list) or do a "set-it-and-forget-it" snipe. I don't like the auction mentality so this makes it like a silent auction: decide the maximum price I'm willing to pay, enter that into my snipe software and then forget it... If I win, fine. If I lose, fine. By not entering my max into eBay's system until the end, no one can "shill" me.

What was the outcome here, did you win? If not let me know as I have some Boodo phones kicking around.
