What can you tell me about the WM-F22?

sega - 2011-08-21 09:25

Car booting today I picked one up for a pound, it had been 'loved' shall we say and the gentleman explained that was the very reason why it was a pound, basically the headphones and box had long disappeared and along with many scuffs somone, I assume a young girl by the choice of colours, had painted lots of little pink and orange dots all over the front, Ive removed them but its marked the front quite a bit, Im carfeully trying to buff it out so there wont be pictures for a while.

It seems all functions are fine, theres no strange noises and the sound through my skull candy headphones was nice and clear meaning that the head and connections were fine.

I dont know much about it or what makes it complete, so can you guys tell me anything?

well I would like to see a picture of it ( before ? ) and or when you got it no matter how bad it is rather than having to search the world for a ________ ing picture of what ever you have there

or put it another way I  have lots of pictures of stuff I have that is still waaaay broken that i could post but none of that stuff is very much relevent now..

When you start a thread it would be so MUCH nicer to know what it is ( preferably with a picture ) to know other than a few letters - need to decipher... even though I think this belongs to a walkman

this way then at least we would / could possibly know so much better what you are try to get help with ... OK?

There you go, its not finished yet as Im taking a break from it to enjoy its functions.

Flash shows the damage and the non flash shows it fully

That looks so much better looked after than my one, with the strap is it branded?

Am not sure what you mean by 'branded' it is just a braided nylon strap that came with this when i got it way back when.  the strap is just long enough to wear this around my neck with this hanging to about my mid-chest level and or it is a short strap and it does Not have any brand nameplate on it. it is adjustable to be shorter but it is too short for me to wear on my shoulder - it is kinda cute being so short the strap is ...

the cassette player works very well and is very Loud for a walkman - this will push/power any headphone's or non-powered speakers very well and operates on 2 AA batteries. its not so much high fidelity in either direction but the vocals surely come through this - of many of walkmans i have I like this model simply cause is seemingly has such a high output of power unlike many other walkman's of it's ilk

Cool, I will have a search through the loft for a strap as Im pretty sure some of my parents old cameras had straps like that.

Well Ive done the best I can get it, its not that good to be honest, theres still plenty of scratches but it had already started to discolour slightly so trying anymore would make it a massive mess, the text is quite worn but I dont have anything in my modeling kit to restore it with.

What I think will be best for now is to find some small period style stickers and if I ever want to sell it on Ill find a good door off a donor walkman, other than that its real good and I was rather miffed when my batterys went flat, mid tape too

Rechargeable AA's are the way to go  and having lots of set's of two (2) batteries is the only way to go either on charging or in use !! .... do you need a picture ?

I dont own any of my own at the moment but I could possibly liberate a couple of my dads, my boombox still has good batteries in it though

I recommend rechargeable eneloops. They are Low-self discharge, which is nice and they do not leak when left in machines for a long time. I virtually use them in all my Walkmans now.

I bought the WM-F22 in 1986. It was my first walkman. I've dug it out and here it is, complete with original box, shoulder strap and instructions. It needs a good repair, particularly on the main board and the headphone jack. I have also acquired a second one off ebay (the one on the left with the strap attached). Dottor walkman has agreed to restore it in full using the one from ebay as a parts donor. Please check specs on page 11 for battery life..

Sony Walkman WM-F22

Wow This is Great to be able to See/read this converted to text

Specifications of this model WM-F22

Frequency responce 40-15,000 hz with either metal or normal

25mW + 25mW (max)

20mW + 20mW ( at 10% harmonic distortion)

load impedance 32 ohms at dc operation

We'll guess that these Specifications would be the same as for the

Non Radio version WM-22

& now we know why and about how much

Since our WM-22 doesn't have radio Battery life is at best 7 Hours on 1 set of alkaline's

Viewing the instruction of the strap usage suggest's that the radio version be carried upright under the shoulder versus the placement of the loop hole's on the

Our interpretation of the Non-radio version WM-22 suggests that
