Sony Walkman Question WM-GX670 & WM-GX674 ?

- 2012-01-04 06:56

What is the difference between the WM-GX670 & WM-GX674?

Both have autoreverse recording, dolby, am/fm radio  operate on gumstick internal battery and a aa battery with a external battery compartment.

Both have a 3.5mm stereo hedphone jack with the rectangular 4 pin accompanied next to jack for headphones with remote-control-inline with the headphones, or you can use regular headphones  and all the rest you can see.

Is there possibly a difference beteen these Two because of a different function available only through the inline-remote-control? or some 'other' difference?

What is the difference between the Two model numbers? other than 4 number's?

Identical in every way except the 674 had a revised remote control with more versitile range of functions inc record and an LCD display.

next question ..

Does the Control's for the 674 work the same on the 670?

Lastly do these inline controls allow You to plug into the remote ( your own ) headphones like they do on some 'other' model's of inline headphone controls?

Do you own any of the remotes for these units?  if so then try.  If you don't then do the remote jacks look similar, if not then assume they don't work with the same remote unit.

you have to understand that when I moved 4 years ago on the same property to a larger place...   In the old place I knew where everything was and now I am still finding stuff ( in the newer larger place ) - cause i had to move while I was working & couldn't remember where I put stuff in this place, to this day.

example:  I finally found the original laptop battery from more that 2 years ago as it had fallen into a carry-all bag that I hadnt used for about that long, had been using the extended battery all this time - the one Larger one that stick's out of the back to it.

am still finding stuff..

I thought that I remembered that these wm's when I got them, came with headphones.

Now i cannot find any of these " headphone's  " that came with the Loose wm's

I'll try what you suggested, am simply worried of shorting something out by plugging in the wrong remote to the wrong wm!

or would it be ok to plug in the wrong model wm to the wrong model headpone?

wont hurt anything will I ?

sorry i didn't mean to write a book here

Know what you mean about finding stuff years later,( found powerbook g4 during xmas, god only knows the password) dn't worry about shorting something out, if you plug the wrong remote into the wrong unit it will either work or not. I have done this many times with different units, sometimes you get remotes working on walkmans that were'nt made for them.

hi friend, I agree with you: almost ALL sony are exchangeable, ie, a control can serve as a model on the other - already on the line panasonic this change is not always possible - but the line aiwa also accepts 70% of the models - depends on the model - the sony's are almost universal!

The units themselves are the same, the difference is the remote control - the 674 has a backlit, more detailed (round!) remote display. I can confirm that the 674 remote works with a range of other Walkmans, and vice versa - other Walkman remotes succesfully control the 674. Sony appear to have developed a standard remote interface, and you can interchange remotes without harming the units.

Incidentally - and a sneaky plug, sorry! - I'm selling my GX674 on eBay at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300699769722

Thanks!
