How others see us

walkman.archive - 2012-01-02 05:46

Today I saw a photo that make me think about how other people see our passion for those old gadgets, and I think that the best way to describe it is with photos:

HOW WE SEE OURSELVES:

And now...

go down...

a bit more...

HOW OTHER PEOPLE SEE US:

Why would you want Garry Glitters teeth?

I bet he does not want to part with them, will be difficult eating nibbels

A buddy of mine gave me endless crap when I told him I dropped 400 on a few walkmans in a month.
But he has over 500 matchbox cars which I don't care for. It's whatever floats yer boat. That I get.
At work in my pen jar I have a WM-100. Next to it I have my aiwa HS-T600a. Under that is an even rarer Hayes 300 baud modem. No one ever asks me about 'em. Why do I have 'em? Well, duh.
On a NYC subway if you whipped out a WM-30 and flipped your Maxell cassette and hit play, everyone would stare. Haven't seen a cassette deck since '04.
