How do you do, everyone?

So pleased to discover and come to this great site on stereo devices. I'm from Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou is a coastal city in southern China near Hongkong. And about me... I've been very interested in walkman since I was a child.

My father bought a SANYO cassette walkman and gave it to my Mum as a gift in the early 1980s. I can't remember its modal now, and it was  the first audio device I touched in my life. In Dec 1994, a Panasonic CH505X stereo system was bought. To my families, it was a fantastic system, and it played and recorded so well. Soon after the SANYO one was seriously broken for battery corrosion in about 1995, only several Chinese inferior brand walkmans could be afforded by my parents. In 2001, I could finally get a SONY cassette walkman, WM-FX675 made in Malaysia. Though it was already the time of DVDs and Pentuim III PCs, the WM-FX675 still brought me a lot of pleasure.

Time flies, and comes to the year 2012. I had the belt of my WM-FX675 replaced at a SONY service center in January. And, I joined a Chinese forum on walkman, which was an eye opener to me and from which I learned a lot. Meanwhile, I collected more cassette walkmans such as WM-EX5, WM-504, WM-503, ect. from online shopping and second hand markets in the past few months. I find myself so involved~

I hope to learn more about walkman here. Besides, it should be helpful to improve my English via this site.

Best wishes to all on stereo2go.com :-)

Good to have someone from China. Indeed there is a wealth of walkmans to be had from the secondhand market there

I've been on a couple of those forum from China and from what I've seen, there are some really talent repairers on there too.

Late welcome to the forum. Would love to hear more about this hobby in your area. Are there any good repair places there? What are the chances of getting parts made like the belts and the DD gear?

Hi Gzoolong, welcome to the site. Talking about China when I was an expat working in Wuxi for 4 years, came across plenty of mp3 player. 'Meizu' is one of the high end brand in China for mp3 player, and they had one particular model, the M6 that really knock out the rest of the player in the market in term of sound quality. I used to have one but lost it during my travel. Perhaps Gzoolong  you could help to source for me another one, and I know that Meizu is no longer manufacture mp3 player.
