eBay not allowing YouTube links

johnedward - 2012-08-23 16:15

Just listed a item today and had a YouTube video made as it helps greatly to sell a item with audio so buyer can hear boomer or Walkman and actually see all functions working.   Why the hell is eBay playing so hard ball with new rules in past 8 months.   It would not let me list item until I removed the link.  It did allow me to say see video on You*Tube do search under Panasonic SG-515 by The71Roadrunner

Anyone else have this problem or is there away around this rule for video links?

Also of note I copied pasted the link in browser of my video which is what they would not allow.

Some time ago before google took over YouTube remember they would list a link you clicked on that would give the EMBED code so the small video window would show in emails or ebay so it did not have to take you to the YouTube site.  That embed code is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND NOW that I could find on my videos.  WTF ?????

The internet is becoming a police state ruled by the huge corporations ruled by GREED.   What happened to the internet being about people and communication worldwide with freedom of speech and expression for ALL???

EBAY also updated new policy goes into effect Oct. 1st for existing members that they have right to use ANY phone number either listed on members acct. OR number u called into eBay for use by affiliates , sub contractors etc. of eBay Inc.  IF you don't agree option only is to delete account.   Hell so anyone eBay is affiliated with can get my phone number and use it.  CAN WE SAY as in marketing list!  Information control on the net is the biggest business of all.   That is SO WRONG ON MANY LEVELS yet eBay is so big they will get away with it.

"The most valuable commodity I know of is information, wouldn't you agree?"

Do your listing in HTML, that how I get around the restrictions and click the share or Embed icon, next to the like or dislike button on your video, then hit Embed and check to make sure use old embed code is checked, as ebay doesn't support iframe. Then select frame size and finally copy link in that box and paste it in your listing using HTML, instead of text, you will see the tab toward the top to switch modes.

Link just for example, unless someone actually look for a three head deck on here?

This is the exact format I use in html,
just change the link withing the quotes to yours,
and take off the brackets I put in begining and end so this post wouldnt end up showing it as just a link lol.

this has to me before and had forgotten about the old code....like retrodos said...yeah you have to use the old embed code make sure its checked....then put a <P> in front of the code in the beginning that way it places your video to the left and away from your description....i tried it now it still works....
