Right on eBay : 10th Anniversary Sony WM 701Silver

dee27 - 2009-03-02 07:23

Hello,

At the moment we have an auction on eBay that will last a couple of days, until Mar-08-09 15:10:23 PDT.

It's for a 10th Anniversary Sony WM 701 Silver.
How much do you think it will sell ?

I have seen a former auction not so far from today, and the same unit went for the astonishing price of close to 600 euros Confused

Cheers,

Guy

SO WHO IS THE LUCKY WINNER is it a member on here ? Did player work when arrived? Was sold unknown if working.

dee27 - 2009-03-03 16:00

The price is going over 148,50 USD.
We have 4 days left before the end of this auction. I bet the winner will have to pay a hefty price to get the Aston Martin's Walkman.
Let's say close to 700 euros ?

You can have a look on this former auction :

I say absolutely no. 600€ is too much by far.
This price was not made naturally. Even we don´t know if this walkman is working or not. Let´s wait and see.

dee27 - 2009-03-04 02:50

I agree with you that 600 euros is a CRAZY price, but considering the last auction that went up to 650 euros, for a similar product; I bet that some rich men won't care about the price to get this item.

What price would be fair for a product like this one ?

Let's see then.

eingang - 2009-03-04 03:13

250€ would be a fair and correct price. At the moment I think whoever wants this walkman has it yet. In future times much more people may collect and then price may increase.

eingang - 2009-03-04 07:12

Very interesting, read this dialogue between the seller of this walkman and me:

Me: "Dear Sir ! Very important question: Did you recently test this walkman ? Is it working flawlessly without any shivering, whining or whatever ? Thank you very much"

Him: "Hi, it is brand new, never used."

Me: "Dear Sir ! Thanks for your answer. It is clear that the walkman is new and never used. But that does not mean that it is working yet. A walkman can be broken just by lying around many years. The belt can get crisp and tear when you try to use it the first time. The oil can dry out and block or manipulate the mechanics (shivering). Parts can burst because of temperature changes. Moisture can produce short circuits. Condensators can dry out and produce whining, humming etc. If a walkman is unused for so many years (20!) there is a high chance that it is defect in some way when you try to use it for the first time. I know what I´m talking about. I am really interested but I want to have a guarantee that it is working when I try to use it or otherwise a clear declaration that you can not confirm it is working. If you sell it as new people expect it to work. If it doesn´t you will get problems. Thank you very much"

Him: "Hi, I am unable to test the item. It has been collected and is a collectors item. Please pass on bidding on this item. Thanks."

What do you think ? I think: DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM TOO MUCH !!!

dee27 - 2009-03-04 11:30

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I asked him too a simple question :
- Does this product still work ?
No aswer from the seller....

That's quite intriguing. Big Grin
Cheers,

corry: never ever you will get 700€ - this walkman is rare, yes, but even if it´s working (is it?) - 500€ is the limit for 99,9€ of all walkams - I bet

Thanks for your advice.
It's a lot of money for something that does not really work...
Cheers

eingang - 2009-03-07 19:57

Well well we will see

dee27 - 2009-03-08 14:05

We have hour left before the end of this auction. Price is rising over 200USD.
Let's see then,

eingang - 2009-03-08 21:31

by far not as much as speculated ....
284,35€

dee27 - 2009-03-09 03:33

Yes, it wasn't that much compare to the former auction that brought the final price up to 600 euros.
Maybe, the fact that we were not sure this thing was really working led us not to bid too much.

Instead of bidding on the WM-701S, I finally won the auction for a Vintage Sony Walkman WM-F702 :
eBay item n°260370403810

I am on my way to get another (in good condition) vintage Sony cassette player :
Edit : I just got the auction for the Sony WM-B603 tonight.

Cheers mates,
Dee27
