Tales of Woe

billy.the.binman - 2009-09-07 04:17

hello everyone, i have a tale of woe i want to get off my chest.

was doing the boot fairs yesterday, looking for the usual faberge eggs, vintage guitars, rolexs and ghettoblasters. got up early (which isnt in my nature) bought some records and cds, nothing particularly special.

went back to the first booty i went to grab a telephone for my dad and went round again to see if anything else might have turned up.

and there it was, something ive been looking for ages, not a box but one of these...

incase you wonder why, this might go someway to explaining

same one as the twin pines mall massacre of october 5th 1985.

yeah i am sad.

anyway, i saw it, totally acceptable £5 sticker on the side and just as i did a crusty old couple picked it up, the man was toothless, his wife looked like a bag lady (i mean this in the nicest possible way) but didnt seem to even know what day of the week it was. they were about 60-70yr old, were looking at it and the woman held it for ages with a look on her face of "what am i doing here? wheres my camel" the old bloke saying do you want it, what is it? wheres the power lead? in a squaky pikey voice.

he starts asking old woman if she wants it over and over, to which she doesnt give a rational reply to, this continues whilst my skin is turning inside out///

they milled around it, staring and trying to figure out what it was for about 15mins, i couldnt believe they would even want one, i was standing there like a 5 year old desperate for a piss, then the old guy buys some other junk of the blokes stall and he says to crusty you can have the vid camera for free Red Face Mad

at this point i said to crusty old chap - look man, ive wanted that exact model for ages, you wont get it working in reality ill give you a tenner for it. he tells me his mrs wants it...

they spend the next 10 mins trying to get it in the box (came with box, was mint Tap Toes Roll Eyes )

hoped they would just give up and accept my £ten£... but no, they walked off, with the free vid camera ive been searching for for ages.

i should have just sniped them! like they did me. theyll get home and find they cant get it going and probably bin it. i cant imagine they will actually use it.

so im gutted. i just hope the rolly crew of 1942 dont bin it and it ends up on a boot fair somewhere for me to save.

on top of all this its a very good camera in its own right for its age

sorry for the long story.

anyone care to share their tales of 'the one that got away'?

billy.the.binman - 2009-09-07 04:57

can add to this tale woe, just got an email from a guy i sold a guitar to on ebay, the guitar arrived split in half due to having one of the DHL people stand on the box.

all through ebay and paypal so im no doubt going to get negatives and forced paypal refunds without my say so.

great Frown

Hi andy,so there`s been a dark cloud over you aswell ?
i have a quite a lenthy story also..
last week,my little lad came round with his psp,he started playing a game on it,i noticed he had the sound off,i asked him why,he said the sound had gone off on its own,so i said i would have a look at it for him, took it apart, fixed the sound, put it back together, when i switched it on,the screen had a big crack accross it,so i had to give him my brand new one,i kept his and ordered a new screen off ebay, screen came, fitted it,all went fine, putting it back together, looked at it,that cracked aswell,my heart sunk,i`ve worked on loads of psp`s over the years and this has never ever happend before..so now i`ve ordered yet another screen..

2)..my mate came round last week,i shown him a new film i got,i played it on my laptop, when he left i put it on the arm of the settee for 5 minutes, went in the kitched, hurd a bang, the dog had knocked the laptop on the floor, looked at it,screen smashed..gutted !!

3)went car boot, seen a 8" hand held freeview tv and 10" portable dvd,had no power adaptors for them, paid £25 for them..the guy said thats all they need the power adaptors (i had one for em) got em hom, both nackered..i cant beleave i fell for that..

other day, seen a nice technics hifi on evilbay, messaged the guy, agreed a good price for it,it was all a go go,everything was fine,i was looking forward to buying it..
got up yesterday morning, got an email,he sold it to someone else..

Last week, sold a philips power player to a guy on ebay,he paid on the friday,i sent it saturday morning parcel force 48,gave him the tracking number,i got an email following thurday,he still had`nt got it,this went on for 3 days,i was apologising constantly every day, stuck with him all the way,he finally got it saturday,i could just tell from attitude in his messages that he was a hard to please costomer and that he could be trouble..he`s never left me feedback,so i dont know whats happening now, could get a negative..

and theres lots of other little niggling things aswell that have been going wrong for me over the past few months,it just feels like i cant do anything right,or someone up there is looking down on me and has got it in for me !!

electronic will drive you crazy if you let em ,when they act up i get the hammer out if they dont get better the ole hammer comes into play ,i call it weeding out the weak ones ,or hammer time.

im.out.of.hear - 2009-09-07 17:46

Ha ha ha floyd..classic brilliant...yep its a good idea,if you have a box that gives you jive, smash it up,no more box,no more problem..

jvc.floyd - 2009-09-08 06:51

the good thing is you cant beat up stupid people when you get angry ,but electronics are fair game ,no satisfaction like puttin the hammer to the offending unit, its natures equalizer and stress reliever.

Sorry for being off topic, but whats wrong with owning a pit pull? Confused
I have one, 16 years young. She's the most loyal dog I've owned.
