Who would be up for a mini meet ?

docs - 2010-11-21 10:45

Hey, who around the middle and northern regions of the UK (ofcourse anyone else too but it might be too far to travel) would be up for a mini meet of boxes and food/beers ? If we can't share our love for boxes and the ones we have, what can we do ?

hey thats an idea! hmm who else wants to come?

gld - 2011-01-31 15:38

I think the problem with US in the UK is that transport is just so expensive. I know people in the US who have driven from NYC to Florida, just to see someone for a couple of days.

That just would happen here. Train, car or flying; it's all expensive. I'd be willing to attend a meet but at these prices..?

One idea (rubbish it if you will). Chip in (for petrol and rent of a people carrier; send the money to someone like Billy (for example) because he is furthest south; do a pick up in London and Birmingham; then drive on to meet the Northern contingent in Manchester.

Before you shoot this down, remember that our US buddies wouldn't make this sort of thing a problem.

penge - 2011-02-01 01:34

*our US buddies wouldn't make this sort of thing a problem.*

Yes i agree but our US buddies don't have the M23 M25 M6 the M10648etc: to deal with.

Brighton beach would be OK with me!

PS: Nearly forgot WE and the dearest trains fares in Euorpe.

im.out.of.hear - 2011-02-01 11:09

uk is not as enthusiastic as other countries, for a number of reasons..
The costs of travel is ridiculously expensive, the weather is horrible..99.9% of the time its freezing cold, snow, ice, rain, most years the best we get is cloudy and grey to moderate, year after year of being skint, living in crappy grey rainy cold country,it takes away the passion..
And the english are more reserved type folk, well i am anyway,i'm more of a soletery type of fellow..

walkgirl - 2011-02-01 13:11

I think English peopels eat black pudding all day and eat tea Big Grin

We drink tea!!

Smile

I've been to brighton with my boombox a couple of times. Sitting on the beach playing music is a fantastic way to relax.

billy.the.binman - 2011-02-03 14:54

brighton beach is cool for such a thing! i dunno could just have a couple people meet up near the west pier or something when the weathers good that would be cool.

ill probably take my boxes out more this year so ill be hanging out if anyone wants to join me and call it a meet!

gld - 2011-02-04 12:33

Penge, Billy

Looks like we have a mini, mini meet then guys. When the weather gets better (April, May) I'll PM you both. Any Surrey boys up for it? Isolator42? Bendycat?

I know there is a couple of Londoners on Boomboxery so I'll ask them.

billy.the.binman - 2011-02-04 14:51

it would be cool if bendycat made an appearance with an old skool bmx too that would be awesome! ill bring a bike as well.
