What do you think? I just did the front windows to match the factory tint.

Same here in CAL, I've known a few people to get tickets for it. It looks cool though and damn comfortable when driving in the summer.

Highly illegal in Texas as well - you don't just get a ticket - they MAKE you undo the tint on top of that.
I like all the hardwood in the garage

Same here in Wisconsin. My buddy has a blinged out cop magnet Dodge Magnum R/T. He has been busted for tint like 3 times. He gets a ticket, then he pulls the tint off,has it inspected and approved. Then he drives back to the tint shop to have it retinted, so it is cheaper for him than the normal guy.Laugh Out Loud His friend owns the tint/ car stereo shop where he gets it retinted. I think my buddy is rich or just stubborn. I even got busted for illegal tint on the interstate driving his car while taking him to the airport. My buddy keeps trying to get me to tint the windows on my Mustang, but I'm affraid of getting busted for it. I can think of better things to do with $180.00 for the ticket and $225.00 for the tint job. Nod Yes

When I was in Washington State the rule was you must be able to clearly read a dollar bill. That was '96. I heard it's worse now. In Alabama anything more than factory levels will get you smoked. Notice, it has to be OEM, not aftermarket. Roll Eyes

I've got 20% 3M tint on the Bimmer and I haven't had any problems. Here in Tennessee, the darkest you can "legally" go is 35%. So yeah... I'm breakin' the law! Big Grin

Cops don't like tinted windows because it puts them at risk of being shot if they pull someone over and they can't see what they are doing inside the car. So they pull over and ticket people that have tinted windows.... that makes sense. Roll Eyes

The best solution is to tint your windows and then drive around with the windows down so you don't get a ticket!Laugh Out Loud

It would be cool if someone invented a dual-window system that allowed you to either put up a tinted window or a clear window. You get pulled over and you just do the switch! Cool

fatdog - 2008-03-27 13:13

All cars should come with electrochromic windows. Flip a switch - bam! - tinted windows. Flip the switch again - zip! - no tint.

That is a much better idea than my "two windows" idea. I am such an idiot. I hate myself.....

I read somewhere that infiniti was making a sunroof that was a clear lcd screen that would darken with the press of a button... if its real, that would be the ticket (or lack of)

thafuzz - 2008-03-28 21:01

I don't get any tickets! Razz Razz I've got a light tint on mine- and I don't sweat others just the same. It's the darker tint on the front doors I cite for. CHP and agencies? Well, that's their call. BTW, very nice tint work CD.
