Sorta like this one.

Don't take life too seriously, you're not getting out alive anyway.

sinister - 2008-09-24 02:06

its not my fav but its one i hate the most. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

fatdog - 2008-09-24 04:35

Right now, I can think of two of my favorites.

quote:
Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.

- Horace Mann

And quite possibly my favorite of all time:

quote:
Do or do not. There is no try.

- Yoda

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart, and learn to love the questions themselves." - Rainer Maria Rilke

"My sister Elaine communicates with my brother and myself almost entirely by rumor." - Murray in A Thousand Clowns

"There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of them says, 'Boy, the food at this place is really terrible.' The other one says, 'Yeah, I know; and such small portions.' Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness - and it's all over much too quickly." - Alvy Singer in Annie Hall

"Every form of refuge has its price." - Eagles from "Lyin' Eyes"

This one. The tragedy is not living a short life but in living long life without everlasting purpose.

Are you sure you got the quote exactly right? There are similar lines in The Jackal and Boondock Saints, but I'm gonna say that neither one of those is right.

redbenjoe - 2008-09-24 09:08

FD --
it was the last line before the end of the very thrilling and glorious lives of butch cassidy and the sundance kid --

one errant shot was fired from the 500 militia --who were waiting to blow them away --

and cassidy was trying to give sundance the ultimate pep talk --
like -- they really had a fighting chance --!! Smile

"You can't even find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write '**** You' right under your nose."

10 Bucks to the one who identifies it.

fatdog - 2008-09-24 10:56

To continue Asdexander's quote from above: "I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "F*** you." I'm positive."

The Catcher in the Rye
1951
J. D. Salinger

Most of Bill Hick's one liners , for example

"A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on."

I read a variant of that one once. "Your failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my part". I've always liked the line on Jon Bon Jovi's song "I'm feeling like Monday - but, someday I'll be Saturday night" Cool Cool
