Im No longer a Transamguy!!!

transamguy1977 - 2009-03-18 19:04

Well after 6 years of enjoying , the old gal is gone.
I sold and delivered it on Monday.
I decided it was time to move on and get something a little more practical.
I did well enough to get my new baby and I am very happy with it.
Still dont have any payments and now have a near new Fully loaded 06 Chrysler 300 C.
Yes its got a Hemi in it and enough trunk room in it to haul around tons of boomboxes.
Pics to follow soon.
I will miss the T/A because It has become like a family member but at the same time I am very excited with the 300.
It is the only car I have ever bought that even resembled a new car.
will be a nice road trip to Sorrento this year Nod Yes

masterblaster84 - 2009-03-18 19:29

Sad day Frank! Frown We still want you around anyway. Big Grin

We haven't known you without the T/A but we'll get used to it, by the way nice replacement! Nod Yes

thafuzz - 2009-03-18 19:30

Oh No! Frown The T/A is gone and now is in someone else's garage? It is so beautiful and perfect. I wish I could've added it to my garage with Lucy but I don't have that kind of money for your perfection Frank. I'm happy you got another fine and practible ride for the family my friend. I hope your 300 will hold it's resale value as long as the Black beauty does. So, are you now "300Guy2006"? Razz

Thanks for the praises on the T/A.
She was not perfect but grabbed everyones hearts when we drove her around.
I couldn't have hand picked a better buyer though.
The guy fell in love with her and is a mature "well off" older guy.
He will surely take care of her and take over where I left off.
Funny you mentioned 300guy2006 That made me laugh that we think so much alike.
Here is the last photo I took after detailing the heck out of her in preparation for delivery.

And here is the new

johnnygto - 2009-03-18 19:52

Frank that T/A takes my breath away every time I see a photo of her....

Your new ride is very nice also, both are great cars.. just different Smile

thafuzz - 2009-03-18 19:53

That 300 sure is a sweet ride Frank. You have the grill I'd be putting on it too. Proud of you. Well done!

transamguy1977 - 2009-03-18 19:54

Sad/Happy indeed.
But sometimes in life you have to make decisions for the best of the family

ahardb0dy - 2009-03-18 20:10

"The guy fell in love with her and is a mature "well off" older guy."

kittmaster - 2009-03-18 20:21

that's why you have that golf cart with the dual exhaust, fiberglass body right?

monolithic - 2009-03-18 20:25

Old school to new school! Cool

The so-called "Baby Bentley" is very nice, but still,... it's no substitute for that old Detroit steel. Frown

Regardless, enjoy your new whip! Smile

that gorgeous T/A would be corroded in 2 weeks around here
-----------------------------------

-----frank --the 300 looks very serious -
what your 0-60 ??? Big Grin

I dont know but its really quick.
Like 5 seconds maybe
Here are the specs.
MODEL: Chrysler 300C
ENGINE: 5.7-liter V8
HORSEPOWER/TORQUE: 340 hp @ 5000 rpm/390 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm
TRANSMISSION: 5-speed automatic
Sad to say but For the size/weight this car would probably blow the doors off the T/A in the quarter mile.

redbenjoe - 2009-03-18 20:53

5 seconds would blow ANY 60s slug away !!!

no contest.

baddboybill - 2009-03-18 20:56

Was the T.A stock Roll Eyes

71spud - 2009-03-18 21:01

I always regret getting rid of my Canary Yellow 1975 Firebird Formula. It was one of the dumbest things I have ever done. For a gray 1981 Mazda 626 of all things. My friend did something even dumber.... he sold his mint Black late 80s(?) 300Z for a used Izuzu Trooper. I remind him of it constantly.

I hope you don't regret your decision. Tap Toes

masterblaster84 - 2009-03-18 21:06

Spud that would make for an interesting thread, what cars do you regret selling? For me it was my 68 Firebird I sold in the mid 80's, it wasn't perfect but damn it was fun to drive. Big Grin

I don't even have any pictures, she only lives in my memories.

That's the saddest part too Don. Frown

- 2009-03-18 21:10

I still think change is good, so congrats on your new ride Wink

Knowing that your Trans Am is will most likely be well cared for by the new owner is a MAJOR plus which should make it that much easier on you emotionally...you wouldn't have sold the TA if the timing wasn't right.

Now go out with your family and enjoy your new 300C Big Grin

masterblaster84 - 2009-03-18 21:11

Adam you know what I'm talking about, that Camaro you've got is basically the same car. The only real difference is yours is much nicer.

thafuzz - 2009-03-18 21:23

I had to sell Lucy once for unforseen circumstances. A local car dealer bought it and placed it for sale on his car lot for a much higher price. It killed me every time I drove by to see people looking at it to buy. I was so depressed at the thought of someone else taking all the credit and praise at car shows, for MY restoration. My wife was gracious enough to offer to trade our BMW X5 to the guy to get my Lucy back. She's back in the family and I kiss her goodnight and tuck her in. My wife too! Laugh Out Loud

71spud - 2009-03-18 21:31

Fuzz--- I think I just fell in love with your wife! WOW. She really "understands". I hope the car dealer gave you a good deal. Or did he try and take you to the cleaners?

I have thought about doing a VIN search and see where my baby ended up. But it has been over 20 years. I probably don't want to know.... all these years... living on the streets. ~sniff~

Send me your Vin via PM. I'll see what I can do Wink Oh Yeah, We worked out a deal and just about traded straight across.

Thanks! I will see if I can find the VIN... I know I have the info here someplace.... I never throw anything out, but it might take sometime to find paperwork from college. It was a private party transaction both ways, but I did get a loan on it. I don't think those papers would have the VIN though. My collateral was a CD, not the Firebird....

Is there a way of finding the VIN from a plate number and date of registration? Going back in history a bit. 1985-1987 registered in Wisconsin.

daiwa - 2009-03-18 21:48

Chryls. 300's, nice, Hemi, good. Cool
Not the classic that the TransAm was, but, I bet the ride is smooove...
Congrats Frank.
I mean, 300Guy Razz

gluecifer - 2009-03-18 22:44

Nice one TAGuy! But I must ask, what's a 'hemi'?

Sorry.. I'm automotive-illiterate.

Rock On.

sinister - 2009-03-19 01:31

here you go glue

THAT'S A HEMI!!!

gluecifer - 2009-03-19 01:53

Ahh, thanks for that Sin.
Now I get it!

Rock On.

riddler - 2009-03-19 02:13

Ugh.....WHY!!!!!!! I still strap 2 car seats in both my Camaros Smile

ford93 - 2009-03-19 05:14

Frown sorry to hear you sold that black beauty Frank, I too will miss her she is one sleek MF.

The 300 are gorgeous, man I've seen one the other day with some very nice Rims not too flashy but cool! Cool

skippy1969 - 2009-03-19 05:31

WOW Frank its hard to believe you sold your T/A... Yours was one of the most beautiful one I've ever seen. My friend had a 1975 T/A with a 400 poncho and a 4 speed posi that was very close to yours in condition. You will like your 300C. The Hemi is a great engine. My buddy has a 2005 Magnum with a Hemi and it straight out hauls!!!!
Congrats on you new car,it looks nice. Big Grin

jt - 2009-03-19 06:52

Onward and upward....

The T/A was awesome, for sure.... and those memories will live with you forever. Especially when you see Smokey and the Bandit reruns on TV!

But, in the grand scheme of things, you probably did what was right for you at the time. Enjoy the new ride. I bet the stereo sounds better, its faster, gets better gas mileage, has ABS, has traction control, and probably still has a warranty.

Ok, so its not going to turn as many heads... but that can be a good thing if you have a bit of a lead foot.

Just try to stay away from those auto-auctions on TV where some of those guys are paying ridiculous amounts for some of those old muscle cars and you'll be fine.

oldskool69 - 2009-03-19 07:57

Wow Frank! Can't believe she's gone! At least you'll look cooler than I will when Tunya and I arrive for the meet in Sorrento. We'll be in a Chrysler product as well...An 06' Dodge Grand Caravan! Laugh Out Loud

But I can carry more boxes though! Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

transamguy1977 - 2009-03-19 19:02

Lots of mixed feelings LOL
Thanks for all the support and compliments guys!!
Yes I made the right decision for the family which to me comes before anything.
We were all sad to se the T/A go but we are all loving the new whip.
Here she is freshly warshed.

Pinch me I think its a dream

moncheeto - 2009-03-19 19:22

its always good to have those old school cars but sometimes its better to move on,, in years to come we will be driving the cars of the future and probably will see most old cars left in museums for people to see as we move forward in life,,its good to be involved with the new,, new technology as you see in our daily lives as we move toward the digital domain and most of the stuff that we grew up with starts dissapearing in our memory its always good to have when you can but sometimes not possible, the move is always good frank that way you are in the present as we get more near the future hope to see everybody riding the latest technology, Nod Yes

enskanker - 2009-03-20 05:02

So now you should petition Jens to change your name here to CryGuy300

skippy1969 - 2009-03-20 05:29

Clean machine man! Eek Eek Wink

- 2009-03-22 23:16

i sold my 1979 Z28 Camaro to a buddy of mine hoping that he would take care of it. now its getting surface rust from being left outside and not being driven, sad too sad. hope your TA has a better home Frown

viennasound - 2009-03-23 01:31

Yes,that´s true.
The transam is a wonderful car. Cool

Next weeks my AMC Eagle has to go. Frown
Hope it will come in good hands...

jvc.floyd - 2009-04-06 10:22

that was the sweetest transam ,the only car i ever regretted selling was my 1970 dodge charger 440 ,that was a brutal car and my parents would not let me keep it at the time Mad.

- 2009-04-06 22:24

back 4 years ago i had a chance to buy an orange/black 1970 dodge challenger rt for 5,900 bucks but i only had 5,000, i begged him to sell it to me but he wouldn't come down off the price. perfect body engine was a 440 (only needed a new set of rings) i regret not buying that car so much, the value just keeps rising as the years go by Frown

ghettoboom777 - 2009-04-08 20:26

Hi Frank-Man I feel for you!
I had to sell my 1974' Chevelle Laguna Type S-3 last October.
It was one of the hardest things I've done.
I actually made 2,500 on the sale.
It was 95% restored and it was nice 454 and swivel buckets but $ was tight.
I hated selling it and I miss it but it went to a guy about my age 40's and he really, really wanted it bad.
He had one in High School and I believe it went to good owner.
He has a big garage and is going to finish it and show it.
I feel bad to this day.
I did buy my Thunderbird with some of the $ and of course some boomboxes! Red Face
Frank-I totally know what your going through-the 300 is a nice ride though.
I have a 1966' Caprice that I'm going to get back to restoring later this summer.
Have a great one-GB.
